So could I bring 500ml of vodka and put it into a plastic bottle in main arena?

Didn't see anyone do that, but try it, what's the worst that could happen? Apart from having to neck it all in one go.

I was at EP last year for the first time and 4 of us stayed in a 6 man tipi, Pink Moon - on the last night our tipi had rain water coming in all night - even though we pointed out earlier that eve to those covering the site - that the top covering of material was gone from the apex of thetipi, as were most others around us. But we were told the under layer was waterproof - we kept questioning it - as it couldn't have been. (Alas we were right!!!)

But our bags were searched every time we went into the main Arena. I may add we were 2 woman (of a more middle age :D) and we were sober. We were not allowed to bring plastic bottles of water in from our site to the Arena either. And when we had plastic cups, we were made finish the drink before entering the Arena. Obviously us normal, sober, women were viewed as a threat to others' health

Yet, I believe Class A Drugs were readily available in other campsites - so shame they weren't more strict about searching/frisking those attendees when entering main arena area - and it may have saved me having to go to the first aid tent and calling for Gardai after I was punched in the face by a totally stoned, orange coloured, 20' something year old "girl".............. A story for another day).

I didn't think there was enough Security within the main arena area. They need hundreds more in there. (And yes I've been attending Concerts/Festivals for years - just never did the campsites before).

Sorry off point - this year we're booked for a Festihut which I assumed was in Pink Moon but have since discovered is in the Boutique Camping area - along with the bigger Yurts/Squirts - whatever you call them.

Have any of you experienced this campsite - and what it's like?

I'd appreciate any updates on this.

Thanks a mill - from a lady who is very happy with the line up - so far :)

. You do not need a duvet.

I do about 8 festivals a year for about 10 years, and I ALWAYS bring a duvet

I have stayed in the Festihuts before. They really are great. Get there early in order that if they try to put you in the one beside the generator, you can say "no thanks, can we have a quieter one please?"

Security was top notch in that area. There used to be a shortcut into the Green carfts are and on to the main arena from the boutique camping area, but I don't think it is opened any more, so you have to make a detour through the lower part of Hendrix to get in to the arena.

Overall it is a nice space. Plus you will get a (low amp*) 240v supply in the festihuts that they don't advertise. Charge your phone no problem**.

*Low amp = NO kettles, NO hairdryers, NO straighteners etc... or you will blow a fuse and they will be pissed at you (this is why it is not advertised)

** it was four years ago when i last used festihuts, so maybe drop them an email to confirm this.

Anyone looking for a good small festival that hasn't yet jumped the shark could do a lot worse than this year's BARE in the Woods. Very decent lineup and 125 for 3 day camping.

Am not affiliated, I just like small festies.

Well i'll put it to you this way, I know someone who did............Any plastic bottles will have the corks removed in the arena but that's easy to plan for.

I've never heard of a stoned person punching anyone? Was it accidental?

For me it only ever looked that big when you were standing in front of a sea of people at the main stage. Otherwise the other large stages broke up the crowd. Remember there was a second open air stage as well!

Look at that spread of area in front of the main stage. I used to love being in the middle of that.

That photo brings back good memories. Great festival

The new Father John Misty album is superb, possibly even better than Honeybear and that's now three great records in a row. Even more early-70s Elton John than last time so not for everyone but the guy is smart, ironic, funny and supposedly superb live. Rankins Wood headline slot would be ideal & I'd expect him to at least match the great sets from Matthew E White & John Grant. My main act for 2017.

My one piece of advice to anyone going to EP is; don't pack too much sh*t, because everything has to be hauled from the car, across the fields, through the venue and eventually to your tent.

Pack light. If you want to bring a mountain of crap leave most of it in the car and do multiple trips. You do not need a duvet.

A duvet is probably the worst thing you can bring as it often gets quite damp during the night and they dont pack so well. However choose your sleeping bag with care, ideally buy a 3 season sleeping bag, this will be warm enough in Sept when the night temps can go down to 3-4 degrees C. Even better is to buy a wide or square sleeping bag not the body hugging mummy style bags.

This is off-topic but I thought it might interest any Future Islands fans here. This is Sam Herring's entry in the What's In My Bag? series.

I expected a pretty eclectic selection of music but he really surprised me with his underground hip hop choices. This guy just keeps getting more and more interesting.

No - wasn't alco a group of 4 ladies (I say loosely) one collapsed on the ground, and her equally stoned friends danced on top of her and shoved a ciggie in her mouth, thankfully we didn't bend down to help - I know drunk and they weren't drunk. There was a lot of aggression - not an accidental punch - a full blown purposely drawn punch. This year when the "young 'uns" surge forward and knock us off our feet, we shall keep going towards the back.

Again, it there was more security around the main stage area - they could prevent the young ones trampling us to get to the front - half way through a performance.

I know, I'm showing my age - but the whole selling point about Electric Picnic was it's a family friendly festival - another reason why I'm thrilled with the line up. The young ones won't be so enthusiastic to get there. We have to start reclaiming events and not be trampled on :D

"stoned" normally refers to people who have been over indulging in the weed or its derivatives. What you describe does not sound like the behaviour of "stoned" people. "Off their heads on some concoction of god knows what", but not stoned.

Young ladies driving through crowds to get to the front of stages is a bit annoying, but I don't think that is related to being "stoned". Its just bad manners.
