When the likes of David Guetta are even been mentioned as a rumour you know the festival is dying and tbh its pretty much dead as far as Im concerned..it might sound like a bit of a cliche but its gone commercial as fcuk.

    That's some pretty bizarre logic.

If I say on Boards that Celine Dion might headline, does that count as a rumour, is the festival ruined now?

One random unrealistic mention is no indicator of  the festival's decline. Nor was having Bowie mentioned every year since conception a sign of the festival's ascent.

Can I start the Eric Prydz & Deadmau5 collaboration rumour here?

And I agree with much of what you say about the commercialisation of EP, fully true in terms of some acts and the corporate crap. However they still manage to yearly book some of the best acts on the planet and I'd rely on them to continue to do that. Keep the faith!

Is Forbidden Fruit only a one day festival this year?

Edit: Looks like the Monday that they've announced today is an additional day that you can buy standalone tickets for

Forum is called Boards .. 2017 is Canada's 150th birthday ... and Celine Dion is Canadian.

It's obvious that Boards of Canada will be booked.

    Am I doing this right?

Welcome the very first names of the #sziget2017 line-up! ;)
Major Lazer * Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike * Two Door Cinema Club * Tom Odell * Bad Religion * DJ Shadow * Mac DeMarco * Vince Staples * W&W * Oliver Heldens * WE ARE GTA * Kensington * Oh Wonder * GusGus Many

Would definitely go and see DJ Shadow if he was booked as I missed him in 2011 as had to do the weekend volunteer shift during his gig on the Friday night.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Missed him also that year as Interpol on but caught him in 2006 and have to say that I was pretty underwhelmed. The best stuff sounded great but there was an awful lot of faffing around between tracks and it didn't hang together well. Having said that I'd welcome him back for another look.

I was at 2011 & was extremely impressed! Horses for courses, I guess. Liked the fact it was all a wee bit mad!

I think he had this set up at the Picnic 2011, I heard the Metropolis set up was pretty visually stunning too, won't miss him at EP this time if he is playing.

I don't understand how Phil Collins is getting more interest that Electric Picnic, how can that be?

Alt-J headlining festivals all over the place.... seems like an EP dead cert

People really showing their true colours.

    But seriously...

    Phil Collins: something to discuss
    EP: nothing to discuss

Madness are headlining a festival in Portsmouth the week before EP, they could surely be in with a shout of playing at picnic.

The Weekend is headlining NOS Alive in Lisbon the weekend before Longitude, a few people fancied him to turn up at EP.

Another excellent clip of Aphex Twin, I really hope this is his year at the Picnic.
His latest foray into SAW 1985 - 92 he is dropping Hedphelym in the set.

I really don't get the love for Aphex Twin. I've listened to a few bits over the years and found them extremely dull and lifeless

I really hope so too. There'd be some celebrations on boards, bodhrandude :D

You mentioned before that he doesn't perform any of his mainstream hits anymore though, which is a pity! I'd pay extra just to hear 'Come to Daddy' and 'Windowlicker' live!

Soooo.... Given the lateness of the year, I'm guessing we're getting **** all of an announcement before March now...

Tickets for Electric Picnic 2017 will come off sale tomorrow, Thursday 22nd December at midnight. The final batch of tickets will go on sale next year.

I think I remember two occasions of pre-Christmas announcements.

Belle & Sebastian, War on Drugs and George Ezra ahead of 2014, and Arcade Fire ahead of their headline slot in 2011 (open to correction on both of those, though!)

    Were there any others?

It definitely isn't a common tactic in recent years for EP, with March always more likely.

Arcade Fire weren't announced until March/April.
the Dec 2014 one (which had Roisin Murphy and Jon Hopkins) for EP 2015 was the only pre-Xmas announcement AFAIK.

yeah I meant Murphy and Hopkins were in addition to the ones BullBlackNova said.

e: B&S on December 4th, John Hopkins on the 10th, Roisin Murphy on the 16th, George Ezra on the 19th, TWOD on the 23rd. that was it until the first big announcement in March I think?
