Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Seriously, how the hell are we still level?

A dodgy penalty to the Serbs and I still feel we have robbed them.

I think I'd take a point at this stage :pac:

Clark on for Long. Sums up MON's tactics tonight.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Long makes a great tackle and is then too slow on the attack. That's why he won't reach higher levels.

True but Coleman was right there too. How could he not give him a shout?

Good enough for what though? They aren't amateurs. They aren't world beaters but either are Serbia. O Neills total lack of belief in his players is on a par with Trap. It's shameful and cowardly.

I agree tactics don't help but even playing a more attractive style I'm not so sure we would get many results Coleman as captain even screams that we are struggling.

At least we have periods under MON that we attack. Under Trap we sat back when we were down 1 nil in the 90th minute

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

30 secs left. Will we have a go? Not a hope.

This has been the weirdest game. It looks like something from 1987, two dodgy teams, and seems to have been on for about 4 hours.

I'm not one for hyperbole but I'm utterly disgusted with MON tonight. WTF is he at? We clearly needed a change in system and personnel at half time and he did f*ck all.

Its like watching two U12 teams.

An away point in Serbia isn't a bad result but it could have been a whole lot better if we had a manager with balls.

An undeserved draw is a fine result.

Serbia will pick up points against good sides. And mess up enough against weaker teams to ensure that they shouldn't be a threat in the group standings.

    A point won. Disgraceful performance.

We never win away. A draw before hand is decent but that performance was brutal for about 85mins.

    Great point

Will absolute take that. Horrendous stuff at times. When we decided to play we caused problems.

get in. A bizarre performance but ultimately very good RESULT.

What a strange game. We should have beaten them, but were lucky to get a draw.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Woeful. Bit more ambition and we would have won that. Can't see the tactics changing too much over the course of the campaign.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

We haven't a hope qualifying. Wales and Austria will beat this Serb team home and away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    Terrible performance.

Austria and Wales have nothing to fear from us.

They could have won the game if they had been proactive. It was performance with a dearth of belief, IMO. I don't think Serbia are any great shakes and Austria and Wales could go to Belgrade and prove this, really putting Ireland under the kosh.

We needed it after 25 mins.
    Shocking from MON.

  • O Neil
    We should be beating them
I'm sorry but if you instruct players to hoof the ball that's what happens
Will take the draw but I'd say two dropped if the game was approached in the correct manner it should have been 3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,629 ✭✭✭✭Sand

The Serbs are probably in uproar at how they dropped two points to such a terrible Irish side. They were robbed.

That aside, the result is good away from home. But the performance is shocking - we simply wont get so lucky on a consistent basis.

    Not here he doesn't.

That should tell you something BTW. The players choose to show no courage on the ball when in front. O'Neill can't grow them a set of balls. Trap couldn't, Kerr couldn't, I could go on. ITS THE PLAYERS.

I'd have been pleased with a draw at the start, but I feel frustrated at the missed opportunity and relieved we managed to hang on, why couldn't it just have been a dull 0-0 where nothing happened.

Someone tell RTE to change their logo to World Cup qualifiers

Big time. The team was never set up to play football, just hang on in there and maybe nick a point. A goal up after 3 minutes and MON has no interest building on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,546 ✭✭✭✭murpho999

Would have taken a point beforehand but we were awful after a great start and Serbia are really not that good.

O'Neill is too negative and long ball for me.

Well, Austria struggled against Georgia, so we don't know if they'll fare so well v. Serbia. Hopefully they don't...

It was there for the taking. We played for the first three mins and about 10 mins in the second and have somehow come out with a 2-2. Serious questions needs to be asked about why this is.

Austria and Wales are going to be thinking they are fighting with each other for first place, prob not wrong in fairness after watch two poor teams.

More shocking Spain only beating Liechtenstein 1-0 at home at HT

they just about got over the line it seems

Serbia are rubbish too and the ref gave them everything he could.
