Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Leaf VDC and brake warning light

The other day the VDC and brake warning light both lit up on our 131 Leaf and have stayed on (colour orange). From what I've read it could be a sensor malfunction that needs to be changed on the master cylinder See here

Anyone know if this would be easy to do?

If it's the 2 sensors in the pic under the master cylinder then it shouldn't be hard.

I'd get leaf spy and a bluetooth dongle and check the error codes, clear them and see if they re-appear first.

A good idea as posted in that thread is to connect the new sensor electrically first to see if the warning goes out.

Thanks for that. Would Spy Lite suffice or would I need the Pro version?

get on to nissan ireland and ask them if it is covered under the warranty... probably wont be.. but being leaf they might look after it or do a goodwill on it.. nothing to lose...
any work on the leaf has to be done by someone trained properly on them... high voltage systems in it... so be very very careful for your own sake getting done outside of the nissan network...if it was any other car bar ev type i would say work away :):)

No changing this sensor is simple, it's in no way connected to the high voltage system.

No don't think it's under Nissan warranty but the dealer might look at it perhaps. I have it for less than a year.

usually there is a years dealer warranty.. but being a leaf and the flagship ev out there and that.. nissan might do a good will on it... i would get onto the dealer as soon as possible and see... as i said. you have nothing to lose.. all they can say is it isnt covered and then look elsewhere... i would be surprised if they dont do something though..especially if you get onto nissan themselves if you have no joy with the dealer...

Ah ok, in that case you're on your own.

Would this work in conjunction with the Spy software?

It may or may not, it must be a V1.5 so get one that specifically says V1.5 or there's a good chance it won't work.

I've the same issue. I had a puncture (slowish), 15 mins after the pressure indicator light came on the VDC popped up. Puncture fixed pressure sensor off but the VDC still is on.
I've booked it in for Monday next for checks. (161)

A couple of days later the warning lights went off. I'm still dropping off the car tomorrow allowing Nissan to check..
