Anyone know what's going on there? Just went by and road is closed off with Garda tape both directions.

    Serious collision.
Guild St is closed between its jcts with North Wall Quay and Seville Place due to a serious collision on Sheriff St Upper. Seville Place is closed from the Oriel St jct and. East Rd is closed at its jct with Sheriff St.

Overheard someone on Oriel St saying bicycle vs truck.

It's a sad state of affairs when the north wall area is mentioned in any way whatsoever that the public automatically assume its something to do with gangsterism or petty crime. The area lies on the only route to and from Dublin Port, and as such, the volume of traffic reflects this, accidents happen. The port tunnel, while a laudable example of infrastructure is basically a white elephant. Why?Because the 'powers that be' charge so much to use it,haulage firms doing city runs save money and manpower by avoiding it altogether.

The port tunnel is free for trucks so no, they don't.

Small couriers that have priced themselves in to a corner might - but they aren't haulage firms.

Its also €3 except at peak times. This reduction was around half a decade or more ago.

I cycle down that road twice a day at both rush hours, I see a minimal number of trucks. Because they're in the tunnel, which as has been pointed out they don't have to pay for. That's the whole point of the tunnel. It's also worth pointing out that 5+ axle vehicle are banned from the city from the hours of 7am-7pm unless they're doing a delivery so I'm afraid you have your facts all sorts of mixed up here.

RIP to the victim, very sad.

And there was another shooting today in Crumlin, South Dublin that was not reported in the media

Southside = West Dublin or Dublin. Never South Dublin when a shooting or serious crime happens.

Anytime its on the Northside its North Dublin, even if its 'West'

The left turn from Seville Place onto Upper Sheriff Street always seemed dodgy to me and it looks like a left turning truck did the damage here. Maybe it's the shape of it? Always found I had to be really extra careful turning there looking for cyclists.
