One of my family members is pregnant (unplanned & father no interest). She has a history of mental health & drug issues. She's in her early 30's, unemployed, has no interest in getting a job and is sponging off her parents. Her mental health is a concern. We are also concerned that she may be smoking cannabis.

She frequently loses her temper, she will not listen to anyones advice and is generally pushing everyone away. We are concerned that she hasn't been honest with hospital with regards to her mental health, or past depression issues. The real concern is that she won't cope with a baby. We are afraid doe the welfare of the unborn baby at this point.

Is there anyone we can speak to who can help. Social services, GP etc? We need more assistance, especially for her parents who may end up looking after the baby. They are lost as to what to do.

Obviously we can't give medical advice on this forum. However the agency to deal with is TUSLA and perhaps via the girl's GP is best.

The hospital will have a social worker and it might be worth contacting them with your worries.

Thanks for the advice. Even just knowing that TULSA is the agency name is really helpful!
