If you're looking for a long-form registered birth cert to get an Irish passport, go to http://www.hse.ie/eng/services/list/1/bdm/Certificates/ - the official site - and not to one of the private sites. The difference is that the official site charges €20 (the same price I'll pay if I go down to Lombard Street and queue…

If you're looking for a long-form registered birth cert to get an Irish passport, go to http://www.hse.ie/eng/services/list/1/bdm/Certificates/ - the official site - and not to one of the private sites. The difference is that the official site charges €20 (the same price I'll pay if I go down to Lombard Street and queue for ages to get it) plus postage. Some private sites that come up first on your search charge €40.
