    ... Never been occupied?

Some combination of economic bust, lack of demand, and high rent, I imagine...

you mean the units that have a hairdresser, solicitors, pharmacy & uniform/sports shop in them? and people living in the apartments above? the people of portmarnock were lucky the developers were be able to finish them off and not leave a half built white elephant in the middle of a small town.

you do realise theres lots of places built for commercial use years ago around the country are still unoccupied? id seriously doubt they were just built for a laugh to be left vacant. there could be any number of legitimate commercial reasons that they still arent occupied.

Its an awful development anyway, a total eyesore.

A GP practise is going in to one unit and a restaurant is going in another unit. Not sure if there are any other units free.

IMO it's less of an eyesore than all the other strip-mall developments in the village.

So three clinics in the village? Are they coming from the one at the corner of that estate, or the one from the little row of shops, do you know?

work started on fitting out 2 of the units. One beside the hairdresser and pharmacy is going to be a McHughs wine & dine restaurant. They have 1 in Raheny already and a few off licesnes around. The corner units been done aswell but doesnt say whats going in so this maybe the doctors mentioned above.
