Found this Error Fare deal on Secret Flying:

Error Fare flights from Shannon or Cork, Ireland to East Asia from only 272 roundtrip with British Airways.
    Appears to be a self-dump.

    Routes:
    Shannon Beijing: 272
    Cork Beijing: 274
    Shannon Hong Kong: 275
    Cork Hong Kong: 277
    Shannon Kuala Lumpur: 283
    Cork Kuala Lumpur: 284
    Shannon Shanghai: 286
    Cork Shanghai: 288
    Shannon Singapore: 293
    Cork Singapore: 295

    (I can't post links as I'm a newbie)

Annoyingly, the Euro signs on my thread have either disappeared or been replaced by random symbols.
Does anyone know how to fix that?

Seems to have gone through OK (€277 out late Nov, back mid Dec). Cork > Hong Kong via Heathrow.

Would have liked to have taken up the Beijing flight but the Chinese Visa requirements for a tourist are a pain in the hole requiring up to go up to the Embassy twice - feck that.

Prices seem to be per leg to me.

    Cork to Hong Kong 246
    HK to Cork 246

500 in total - still very good in fairness!

On the website it says that these flights could be cancelled due to the error code. Would you get refunded if that happens?

I don't have a credit card at the moment, do I have the same recourse if I purchase with visa debit?

    Of course you get refunded.
With Error Fare tickets, the airline can (very rarely) choose to not honour the error.

Refunds are paid and you simply don't get your ridiculously priced ticket.

Approx 85% of the time, however, Error Fare are honoured.

Any chance of a screenshot of the final price for one.
Cork to Hong Kong for example?

    I looked in November/December - Outbound 246 - Return 246 = total of 491.68

Looks like I just got tickets from Cork to Bangkok for €270 each return confirmed!

I have received the booking confirmations and also the Booking Reference numbers for both Aer Lingus and British Airways so it looks like it has gone through and can't be cancelled now!

This has to be the best Bargain I have ever got from the BA forum!

Did you book with Kilroy ?

Schipholtickets.com is who I booked it with and it looks to all have come through properly.

I booked Cork > Hong Kong rtn with them. I've got the e-ticket numbers for all flights and the ref numbers to check in on Aer Lingus/BA. All legs of the journey are shown on the BA website, but check-in is too early.

Just booked Cork-Bangkok-Dublin with Kilroy for €297. The "dump" flight is the outbound, so the return doesn't necessarily have to be to Cork.

Before the website problem popped up, I managed to grab myself return Shannon - Bangkok for €280 or so!

    All confirmed, e-tickets issued etc.

Someone said earlier that 85% of the time these occurrences are honoured...... how true is this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,906 ✭✭✭Zardoz

Interesting all the people going to Bangkok ,I wonder what the attraction is :p

Theyre usually ok, but the clue is in the title. Its an error fare.
Dont book hotels or anything non refundable for at least a couple of weeks, the airline can cancel. your booking is with the OTA. The OTA give the airline the money and they could turn round and cancel if they see it as an error.

Should be fine tho, Im going to Lima in a coupla weeks for 300.
First rule of error fare, do not call the airline and ask if its an error.

I booked a couple of hours ago, paid and got the confirmation screen with a "reservation code" but I haven't received any confirmation email :-(. Booked through schipholtickets.com.

Cheers Tommy!!! Me and the missus off to Thailand next June thanks to yourself. €325 each with only small layovers on the connecting flight. Paid more to fly to Paris for the Euros. Great bargain!

I think once the eticket is issued and you have a confirmation number etc. that will allow you to login to the BA website then there is very little chance that they will cancel it...

Just remember to get you visa at the embassy in Dublin well in advance, and double check, the last time I got one they only accepted postal orders for payment!

Yes I got my confirmation and eticket numbers etc.

You may need to check your Spam as my confirmations where in there because they were in Dutch!

Just double checked and the flights have been confirmed on both Aer Lingus & British Airways websites.

Am I right in thinking we're all good now? Now that they've been confirmed they shouldn't be changed?

I don't think they can cancel our change them now as the eticket is legally binding especially now that the airline's have confirmed as well!
