Most Roadie looking MTB shoes

Ahoy hoy hoy,

My Shimano MTB shoes are about to go into their 5th and probably last winter, as they're used mostly on a Croix de Fer & a singlespeed w. drop bars it wouldn't be terrible if they could pass for Road shoes and maybe had CF soles.

The purchase is at least 6 months off so I'll be ambitious and budget around €200

Specialized S-Works MTB shoes are stiffer than most carbon road shoes.

Expensive though.

if you sort MTB shoes by price from highest to lowest the roadie looking ones usually end up at the top...:)

Meanwhile, back in the cheap seats, I use these. Not particularly pretty nor light, but comfy and do the job.

I also avoid Specialized in general on the assumption that it's only a matter of time till they sue a group of children in the developing world for rolling a tyre down a road with a stick

My budget may never come to exist if Mrs Rollingscone has her way.

My road shoes are dhb.

Some of the Giro shoes fit the bill aesthetics wise. Looks like the carbon soles won't be happening

Definitely a good option, very roadie looking!
Also the Giro Empire MTB shoes are very aesthetically pleasing.
Neither are any good if you have wide feet though.

I have a pair of higher end Giro shoes, wasn't too impressed with the quality to be honest, got one CX season out of them. Fizik shoes are comfortable, the bit the toe spikes screw into failed after a few months (Fizik offered to have them collected by courier for repair). Favourites are definitely my Specialized S-Works shoes, super comfy and I know they'll last a few seasons. Happy to wear them on the road too.

They are made by Shimano specifically as a "road" shoe but with spd cleat.
Have used then for a couple of years and they are great.

I wear Sidi MTB shoes on my daily SS commute - they are at least 6-7 years old and still in perfect condition and I think look good too! I also have the equivalent Sidi road shoe and again they have lasted for ever! I do wear shoe covers if there's any sign of rain though!

Got a pair of these and find them excellent, very comfortable and the can put up with me stamping on them

Tredz are selling Spec body comp with the boa thing for 50 (instead of 130) and they look quite roadie.
