    Ok, bare with me... lighting issue in my sisters house;

    The downstairs lights are all on the one breaker, which isn't tripped.
    Kitchen, utility and outside light working fine.
    Hallway, sitting room, sun room and dining room not working.
    Downlighters in sun room not working- zero volts when switch on, 70v when switch off

    Hallway, switched live; 46v when off, zero when on. 220v between permanent live and earth, nothing between permanent live and neutral. Similar story in sitting room and dining room.
    Before I go changing fittings and switches, any ideas?

    Stumped!!

    Sounds like a "broken neutral".

    You will need to check the fittings, unlikely to be the switches.

    Could be a cable eaten by a mouse too!

    !

    the 220 between live and earth, with 0 between live and neutral indicates a neutral fault to me, but can you clarify exactly where all the stated measurements were taken?
