Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

New oil tank required - advise?

After 10 years time to replace our domestic 1200L Kero oil tank.

I see now that Bunded tanks are recommended but single skin are still available. We've never had an issue with our single skin tank. Will probably go for a 600L tank as we only ever get half fills.

Can anyone advise on what would be the best option?

Here is my experience. I changed a tank a year or two ago. I regretted afterwards that I hadn't put the money toward a gas conversion. I don't know if that's an option for you.

Our tank, a steel one, lasted about 32 years.

I would not get a tank smaller than 1000l, but maybe our place is bigger than yours.

The tank is not ideally supported, there are about 4 inches each end unsupported and about 5 inches overhang on one full side. We have been advised to have the support remade. Where it overhangs there is some minor distortion to the tank, and a concerned that if we use the same tank those areas will be stressed on the new platform.

The biggest single cause of Leaking Tanks is a poor base. It always seems to be neglected and an afterthought which never gets done.
I'd put a good Concrete Base in first then you can stand any tank on it without any stress on the Tank.
I wouldn't go less than 1000 Litre either. But that's a personal choice.
