@donegal. I'm having no luck getting Amazon Music. Followed your instructions, but I keep getting prompted for my Credit Card details and Billing address.

    Any suggestions?

Im having the same problem, I am presuming the fact that my card has an Irish billing address is the problem. Cant seem to figure out a work around for this.

my credit card address is in donegal.

i just changed the address to the parcel motel type service i use in the north.

i would suggest trying with your irish address with the postcode Bt11aa and UK

Donegal, any chance your credit card is issued by a Non irish Bank/Institute!!!

What was this thread about again? :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 94 ✭✭reignschaos

    Valid point Basq :-)

But part of the benefit of the Echo is the ability to play Prime music, but if you can not play Prime music, it removes some of its functionality and thus benefit for purchasing it (IMO).

Flawed reasoning imo. There are many more ways to play music on the Echo than Amazon Prime. It shouldn't factor into the equation at all.

There is no guarantee this will work. Experience elsewhere shows the stuff not being forwarded south.

No, definitely don't use this as your delivery address.

but it should work for prime music

I've already got my camelcamel alerts setup for a few high quality Bluetooth speakers for the Dot. I reckon Black Friday sales should deliver the goods though.

2 UE Boom 2s for the bedroom setup in stereo mode should go down nicely!

I looked at both alright, but UE Boom 2 seems to just tip it in the overall audio quality stakes.

    - http://selectoguru.com/us/the-best-portable-bluetooth-speaker/

Plus you can pair two of them to create a stereo audio effect if you put them either side of your bed. :)

Have a look on youtube for comparisons. Theres a German guy who reviews loads of Bluetooth speakers - clavinetjunkie. He does an in depth side by side comparison.

Edit: cant find the direct comparison at the moment but heres one he did against the the boom 2s big brother the Megaboom

JBL can also be paired for stereo.:)

It seems to depend on who's reviewing...

This review says the JBL Charge 3 has "decent sound but bass heavy and not evenly balanced", whereas UE Boom 2 has "excellent balanced sound"

    http://selectoguru.com/us/jbl-charge-3-vs-ue-boom-2-vs-bose-soundlink-mini-ii/

I've spent a while looking through them all and to be honest if I can get 2 UE Boom 2s for £200 whereas I get 1 JBL Charge 3 for £160 I think it's clear which is the winner.

Fair enough, although the guy I linked to is very weel thought of for his speaker reviews.

Also the Charge 3 is £129 not £160.:)

OK so I can get 2 x UE Boom 2s (2 x £100) and a UE Roll 2 (£79.95) for the shower for roughly the price of 2 x JBL Charge 3s and get Echo Dot to use the shower speaker when required :D

Anyway best thing is probably to try them somewhere in town before buying.

So my Amazon Echo arrived :D

Got some basic setup done, playing Spotify Music and controlling lights via Philips Hue. Very happy so far, sound quality is superb, easily fills the whole room and sounds great. Seems to easily understand my accent.

BTW really impressed with ParcelMotel, Amazon delivered to Parcel Motels Northern Ireland address at 12 today and 9 hours later it was in my Parcel Motel locker in Dublin :)

It is weird feels like I'm living in the future today :D

so what kind of things can it do with spotify?.... can you say things like play such and such a song by artist etc?

Yup, songs, artists, playlists, etc. Pretty much anything the spotify app an do, it can. Also play, pause, set volume, next song, previous song, etc.

I won't say it gets it right all the time, but so far maybe 90% *

    * You can also use the spotify app to select anything and it will play it via the Echo, handy for songs and artists with complicated foreign names.

Unfortunately it seems IFTTT isn't currently working with UK Amazon Echo's :(

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 23,279 Mod ✭✭✭✭bk

Spotify works well, as in if I say "play playlist Top 50 with spotify", it plays my playlist "Topsify UK Top 50", which is actually want I want, just couldn't remember the full name. It is smart enough to figure out that was the playlist I probably wanted as I follow it.

Tunein radio on the other hand is pretty terrible. It can't find any stations, even though it knows your location. Instead you just have to use the app to select and play a station.

Why do we have two seperate threads for echo?

Because the other thread is on a different sub forum that many people probably don't even know exists.

Also it is totally normal for discussion about a particular product to continue on the bargain alerts forum long after the deal has expired. The BA forum has many of them and it is the reason that the "EXPIRED" tag exists.

I've often found that the best threads on BA forum are ones that have lasted long after the deal has expired. No one is forcing you to read it.

Just get an Echo Dot before they sell out, and grab a Black Friday deal on a Bluetooth speaker.

I would expect so, most of Amazons products (Fire TV, etc.) normally drop a lot for black friday.

You would want to be getting a good deal on a high end bluetooth speaker (normally >€100) to match the Echo's sound quality IMO.

    Load of rubbish.

Several non-bargain related threads that went way off topic were moved to their proper homes recently. This thread is no different. Everyone knows the price of the Echo and Dot. The £50 prime deal lasted two days. No bargain here anymore= should not be in bargain Alerts. Simples.

The UE Boom dropped 50% in last year's, so I reckon the UE Boom 2 (or dare I say JBL Charge 3) might be up for it this year

Whatever I get I'll be getting three of them for Alexa-fying several rooms with music.

Now what would be great would be if Echo could take commands via the bluetooth speakers :)
