I find it bizarre that Eir will let a broadband customer just out of a 18 month contract walk away to vodafone as I want a board band only package ( no voice ) and they cant match pricing, seems a very strange way to so things

If you have SKY TV 35 euros a month.

But the crazy deal of basic sky TV and Fibre is only 55 euros a month.

Have a look at changing to sky.

But if you where going to pay say 50 a month i would pay Sky the 55 euros a month at lest you have TV as well for the year. I steam myself but i still love having the basic TV package as some times you just wont to trow on braindead tV :)

None of these are broadband only?

Broadband only means no tv, no phone, no frills. There's plenty of people including me who just want a solid and fast internet connection with a realistic bandwidth allowance. 4K streaming recommends at least 25mb/s. I'm getting 60mb+ with vodafone and it's more than enough and I'm sure more than enough for the vast vast majority of customers out there. It's €40, up from €35 recently, this is what you're being asked to compete with.

correct , my ire was even increased when as part of my Eir bundle , the cost of phones and mobiles was increased bring my package up from 55 to 60 , on a service i dont use ( I have no physical land phone for over 20 years ) and I dont want

This is an illusion of competition , because Eir does not offer a direct comparison package to its competition , which makes the whole idea of a single network and multiple virtual operators nonsense
