Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I'd say you'll have plenty surprises with a CL500!

Came up here. Don't have dates though.
    http://carstock.ie/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Copy-of-Car-list-for-tender43.xls

It mentions may 19th Thursday on it, so it's from this year.

    4 owners.

This is just free info, not from cartell.

Thanks for that. Already have a W140 CL500 and an R129 SL 500. You can't buy a car that costs €185,000 new and expect it to have the running costs of a Fiesta. Went through it's NCT today and failed on rear tyres (265/40/18 £440 from Camskill in the UK) and one headlight washer jet €150. The hydraulic suspension will go wrong, they all do. Shocks are down to just under €900 a corner. The hydraulic pump is a grand. Tax €1809. God, though. When you get into a good one and drive it. Heated and cooled massage seats, keyless entry and go, soft close doors, double glazing, 10 speaker BOSE system with DVD, 8 airbags, magnesium door skins, composite plastic wings and boot, 7 speed auto, etc, etc. Did I mention the 5.0 V8? You could get killed by a bus tomorrow. Everyone should own a V8 in their life!

Wouldn't be too familiar with that one.

Keep us posted with how you get on, had the pleasure of driving one a few years ago. If you can maintain one then they're savage value.

It's just shy of 2 tons and really €185,000 new. You also don't have to replace shocks in pairs. A bargain really:)

I've always found that Mercedes can be incredibly reliable if looked after. Obviously you need to avoid particular models, the CLS has notorious engine issues, the W220 S class is a shed etc. This will get a hydraulic fluid flush and change, gearbox oil and filter change (€50 genuine filter and seal) Brake fluid etc. I do oil, filter and plugs every 6000 miles. I'm lucky enough to have a Brother in laws brother in law as a Mercedes and Smart specialist. I'm also coincidentally lucky enough to work next to a garage which has the laters Mercedes SD connect diagnostics. I can't fault MSL Cork's parts department, most genuine parts are cheaper than spurious. I broke a guide on a seatbelt track restoring the W124. A breakers yard would have charged €5. Special order from Germany at MSL - €1.53. You need to be able to do all the simple things yourself blu be able to recognise when you have no idea. You can find out how to do anything on the internets
