Is the 2.0 engine really as bad as all the stories that have been posted online on various forums and websites. Or is it a case of people writing about their bad experiences and nobody writing about how good it is. I'm asking as I'm looking at a couple of A3s and golfs and I'm not sure if I should go with a 1.6, 1.9 or 2.0 engine. Prices are all around the same for 2009

A 2010 will be the common rail version. It's a reliable engine.

Sorry was meant to be 2009 in the audi, the golf is 2010. Is the 2009 engine much different than the 2010?

You can check the engine code online to confirm it. They would have started to come into the A3s from mid 2008 onwards.
