Explain the 6, now wait, the 7:30 minutes added time please. And when you're done, please explain the 7, oh not wait the 9 minutes added time last week. Cheers.

Do you actually watch any GAA because you did you'd know that 6 minutes has been about the average added time in every game this championship year, the GAA are trying to crack down on time wasting.

The ref is entitled to add on a little time to reflect stoppages in added time and there was a fair gap between the free being awarded and O'Connor taking it so that explains a fair bit of the additional time.

50% of people on this page seem think the ref rode mayo and it seems 50% think he rode Dublin which pretty much tells you he was fairly OK for both teams, because clearly peoples biasedness is getting the better of them

Just switched back over... Did he ask him about waving the fake black card, trying to get Keegan sent off?

Corrupt referee and a team of professional cheats, hard luck Mayo beat by a pro Dublin referee.

Mayo gave away 8 fouls and a horrid tactical decision cost them 1-4.

But blame everyone but yourself and it will be another 65 years a waiting.

Nope, fairly sycophantic from RTE. Connolly is the last player that should be lauded for many reasons but he's Teflon apparently

Maurice Fitz would have put it over the middle of the crossbar and not even thought about it.

It was probably the toughest free both teams got today position wise

Nearly all the frees were in the front of the goals,

Still thought he would have nailed it but not to be,

Not buying a paper tomorrow or for the week :D

Dublin shows how useless they are when they resort to these tactics, there will be no three in a row and that's for sure.

We have won 4 of the last 6. That will do!

Despite his antics on the pitch, Connolly actually seems a decent bloke.

99% of people are decent blokes. All that matters are his on field antics to us. He can give away as many pairs of boots as he wants.

I feel sorry for O'Connor. Kicked every one over except the one that really mattered.

That's awful football from Dublin though. Its all the worst things of soccer pulled into GAA; timewasting, aimless possession football, niggling, off-the-ball stuff, cynical fouls, and provoking. I know lots of teams are doing it but no one to the same extent. The worst thing is that they could probably play a lot better without all the sh!te and if they were more direct.

Well done to the Dubs but my heart breaks for Mayo.

The Mayo team from the first match dispelled the Ghost and the curse, unfortunately, the Ghost, in the body of Hennelly, sneaked on to the starting line up.

    Now that is absolute bollocks.

If anything he was on Dublins side. He's a disaster of a referee.

Ha yeah like the auld lads down the pub that think football in the 70 & 80s was better than it is today. A few of today's teams wold mop the floor with the best teams of that era.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,257 ✭✭✭Peist2007

    Cant believe the Hennelly decision.

But over the two games the Dubs were the better team. We cacked the pants each time we came back and got level (umpteen times). That is telling in itself. The Dubs, despite not playing well really at all over the two games, still looked like a team that thought it could win. We didnt.

A lot of things over the two games to regret for us Mayo folk.

Dublin are probably the most attack minded team in the country. They're the example most other teams should be following.

They clearly are completely ****ed after 4 consecutive league wins ,4 Leinsters and 3 all ireland finals in that time, they seem to have made a concerted effort to conserve as much energy as possible this year and not go at full intensity for the 70 minutes.

The Mayo players lacked the moral courage to win. The free kick taker at the end choked.

It wasn't an easy kick in fairness

I was reminded of Dessie Dolan's free for Westmeath, albeit I think he missed the other side of the post. Was from a similar place though.

Nope. Referee was awful but there is not a chance in hell he favoured Dublin more so than Mayo.

All the diving (I counted at least 4) from Diarmuid O'Connor was missed.
Diarmuid O'Connor clattering Cooper after the goal that was missed.
Brian Fenton getting a yellow for giving a shoulder back to Boyle, and Boyle getting nothing.
The soft free at the end because Mayo lost a 50-50 ball.

Just a few that stick out.

The weird possession stuff I'll give you, that annoys me too. Everything else is done by every team. If you think the choir boys from every other county won't drag down a player to win a game then you're deluded.

Bascially I'd be proud of Mayo today and first game if I was a fan but Dublin won fair and square simple as. It could of went either way though if Mayo won it themselves would of deserved it.
