I'm looking for a good road bike for about 800-900 euro. I want a bike about 9kg if possible and maybe with 20 gears or higher.

At the moment I'm using a cheap Viking Cote D' azur bike which weighs about 13kg and I'm sick of lugging the extra weight uphill. Today the crackarm decided to fall off descending a hill, don't know how I stayed upright.

    Thanks

Looking at Chain Reaction Cycles, there are relatively few women's options available at the moment.

Excluding the ones that are really over budget, you come up with a few that may be suitable.

If we start with this Cube which comes in at 9.1kg, with an 18 Speed Shimano Sora group, and a carbon fork. At €712 I would consider it a little overpriced compared to this Vitus Razor VRL, which comes with the same Sora set, but is a little heavier at 9.29kg, and a lot lower price point, at €549.

To go a little over budget, you are going to get an 11 Speed, Shimano 105 groupset, internal cable routing and a lighter frame from another Cube for €979.

One thing I learned from buying from CRC, is don't be afraid to look across currencies, and countries. When I got my Razor VRL from them, I saved €100 by buying from their UK site, and collecting it from the store in Belfast.

This should give you some starting point as to what is available, however my more learned friends may come back to rubbish my suggestions, and provide suggestions of their own.

    Good luck with the search!

Probably just over 900 with shipping etc.

The Cube linked above at 979 looks nice too, probably better value with the wheels and groupset, though the new Tiagra is meant to be a nice groupset (the Canyon)

Don't limit yourself to a women's bike unless you're small enough that you have no choice.

Great thanks Nak and Unknown Soldier, I'll have a look at them. Yeah I'm only about 5'1 so have no choice.

    Rose Pro-SL 100 Ladies

Stated weight 8.2KG and exactly 1 within budget, although shipping will probably be 60 ~ 70,

I tried out a Cube (in Kearney's in Galway) and it was adorbz. Would have bought it except in my eccentricity I want a bike I could put a back carrier and mudguards on.

What about the Liv bikes? The Avail sounds like it might do you: https://www.bikeexchange.ie/a/road-bikes/giant/ireland/bray/liv-avail-4/362?gclid=Cj0KEQjw9vi-BRCx1_GZgN7N4voBEiQAaACKVlKhHeqM7XEWkG3j6lRpxJh7DX-77KIQYSaztBNHxdEaAv0_8P8HAQ

What about LaPierre? I sat one one of those and it felt lovely; didn't suit my bod for cycling, but might suit yours.

You don't say where you are…? Or what height you are, standover, reach?

    Hi

Did you see Fat Blokes post on the BA thread a few days back - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=101050590&postcount=7390 any chance that boardman is still there and would work for you?

Chuchote mentioned the Liv range, my wife has a flat bar Liv (I think it's a Thrive 3 but with the colour scheme of this one - http://www.giant-dublin.ie/en-ie/bikes/model/thrive.2/28657/99466/) which she really likes - but I'm not sure what you're looking for.

I have to say that nothing beats getting into a few shops and sitting on a few bikes to help figure out what you want/what's important. We found the Giant Store on the long mile road very good when my wife was looking, it took a few trips for her to be happy the right model, and she spent a good while cycling around inside the store to decide on frame size!

    Good Luck!

    Paddy

What height are you, and (if I may be so bold) what's your inside leg measurement? This 51cm Cannondale Synapes on adverts.ie looks nice, and since the seller willingly posts the frame number and has good, though minimal, feedback, and her former ads weren't also for bikes, looks ok:
