    That's some stash!

Great price at basically €6 a bottle. I must stock up myself. When is deal on 'til?
Website says "Choose any 6 wines for €40 between 28/11 and 03/12." That's Saturday.

You can get them at less than €5/bottle if you buy twelve and use a €16/€75 voucher. 12 bottles will come to €80, then deduct 5% (off shelf price), subtotal should come to about €73 or €74, add a small item to bring total to €75, then use your voucher.

I do it every time the 25% off deal is on. I figure it's not happening this year so I want to make sure I'm stocked up for a while. Down to my last 20 bottles at the moment.

There is only something like 7/8 wines on this offer by the looks of it.

    +1.
Very disappointed with Tesco down South this year, even Tesco NI were doing it.
No wonder they are losing turnover with Dunnes doing it.

Last year the Sangre de Toro was €6 after the 25% so basically the same deal now.

Banner on Tesco website for this (sparkling, red, white and rose) - until 11 December. May just be off a selection, as opposed to anything.

Website says "until 11/12/16 unless otherwise indicated." The wines in this deal were cheaper for the last couple of days with deal for six for €40 and 5% off.

Is it any 6 wines or pick 6 from a set list for the 25%?
The ads though not the online shopping suggest it is any 6.

Its any 6 from what i can see. Just got 6 wolf blass shiraz cabernet for €5.42 a bottle using a dunnes voucher. Crazy price

It's any 6. The banner ad takes you throgh to their Christmas selection, with just a dozen or so per wine colour; if selecting from website go to the drinks section. Some wines have not been increased for this promo, so it represents an actual discount, others have been inflated so the last two promos were better. Just 'normal' Tesco pricing!

Offers get extended all the time, the grolsch one ended 26 nov but was immediately on again on 27th nov. I noticed it was not selling well in mine so maybe low selling stock is extended.

I have also seen them end offers early the odd time, so I would not be holding off buying something, i.e. do not trust their end dates.

The 70cl baileys was €12 in mine last night, no yellow label or any sign of promotion and only a tiny 2 bottle wide shelf space. The 1L was €24 with big yellow label promoting it. And by the looks of it eejits were buying it instead of 2 regular bottles at the same price, and there were plenty of regular ones left. The 350ml bottle was also promotoed at €9.

But you worked out better with the earlier deal, didn't you?

With today's deal - 25% off, but without the 6/40 discount, your basket would come to:

    Torres Sontoro -- 36 @ 10.00 = 360.00
    Santa Rita Merlot -- 24 @ 8.00 = 192.00
    Santa Rita Cabernet -- 24 @ 8.00 = 192.00
    Subtotal €744.00
    Save 25% off wine €186.00
    Total €558.00

Can't replicate this using their online shopping basket as it's restricting me to six bottles per type.

I assumed both deals were on. The 6 for 40 was due to run until tomorrow.

I had thought the same. Was in Tesco yesterday and spotted the 25% sign up, now I think the 6/40 sign was still on display but I could have imagined it. I put six wines in one of the carrier boxes but when I got to the selfcheckout it was more than I expected. The assistant came over and she said "oh, it looks like the 6/40 didn't come off" she called over somebody from the wine area and he said that deal was over. But I think there was possibly an overlap for a few hours as the assistant seemed as confused as me. And afterwards when I looked at the website, it was still only showing 5% off under the individual bottles. So it seems to take them some time to sync things. Moral of the story is to hit the shop when they are switching from one deal to another and sometimes then you can take advantage of both.

Remember sherry, port, vermouth and even mini bottles of wine can all count as one of your six bottles...

It can be very good value, but you need to know your wines and how supermarkets market wines.

Personally I don't rate brands such as santa rita - Aldi / Lidl equivalent normal price wines are vastly superior as they don;t price in false promotions.

One example is Aldi Exquisite Argentinian Malbe @ 8.49 v Santa Rita Malbec @ 11.49 (8.61 after discount)
The Aldi one is miles ahead.

Beware of brands you only see in one supermarket.

    "Winemaker selection"
    "Ogio"
    "Domain Arnaud" (utter muck)

Similarly avoid the cheap bottles of the mega brands such as cono sur, santa rita, wolf blass, frontera & carmen. After 25% of they are just about priced OK, but again you'll get better for same price in aldi lidl. (Aldi standard pinot grigio @6.99 will beat any €10 tesco version)

The value is in the €12-€20 price bracket where you can compare the wines and find independent ratings.

Tesco used to be far better for wine - these days I just find them to be appalling but with a little knowledge (and a smart phone when you are there,) you will find a few decent ones.
