New diagnosis.

Hi guys.

We've been going through the motions the last 2 yrs with our eldest son (7 yrs old) and yesterday we got the "unofficial" diagnosis of aspergers. He also has SPD.

I was expecting it. Am I'm not upset. But man has it hit me. It's like my head is just empty. Looking at a dirty house and sitting here thinkin "I should get up and clean" but I can't seem to do it.

If there's a spectrum, then we're all on it. Your son is just on a different bit. I've a couple of friends with Asbergers. Both doing really well for themselves. They have specific difficulties that they each deal with in particular ways. But, sure we all do, don't we.

I have seen a number of people come through the group that I help out with that have Asperger's and as the person above has said the each have specific difficulties. you will be there to support him and help him.

Just to also point out that don't like the "unofficial" diagnosis of Asperger's think that he won't wont have a normalized life. The man that created Pok mon has Asperger's and sure look at him.

Hi OP,

Hope your feeling better now. I was expecting the diagnosis too, but when it came I still had to take time to process it.
He is still the same boy he always was, just with a label for his quirks.

My son also has aspergers - he's improved hugely since he was diagnosed and started getting help like OT, Physio and speech & language.
