Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Auction by 'best bids', Cork City Council

I recently bid on a few houses (example) being sold by Cork City Council via a local estate agent by the 'best bids' auction. These are (I presume) derelict houses that are now in the property of Cork City Council and are being sold off off as sites. You send your highest bid to the estate agent and on a certain date they are all opened and the highest bidder wins. My query is: what is to stop the estate agent, when seeing a bargain, from popping in a bid himself or on behalf of a friend to secure the house for himself? I have tried to find out if the method is in anyway transparent with questions to both the estate agent and the the Council but I get no straight answer.

On a related issue, I recently rang the regulatory body for estate agents to ask why the link to their code of practice on the website was not working to be told that the code of practice has been removed!! How was I supposed to know if the estate agent was working within fair standards of practice? "every complaint will be dealt with accordingly"

    Rather vague I thought.
