I'm hoping to look at a 2010 Pug 308 1.4 petrol. They're not a car I know a lot about, but in terms of it's size and his needs (low mileages, dropping kids to school etc) it fits his bill perfectly.

Is there anything to watch out for when looking at these? Are they reliable??

They're not a bad car. The 308 was a big jump in terms of quality compared to the 307. That said, I don't like them to drive, I don't think they're particularly good looking, it seems like there are tonnes of abused ex rentals ones out there, and most I've seen are quite low spec.

That said, at the right price, anything can be argued for, and from memory they're low enough tax? Mpg not a concern if you're just doing short runs, and I'm sure it's very safe.
