Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have noticed a far bit of rust forming in the door of my Kenwood microwave. I have the microwave approx 1.5 years I would say.

Is it still safe to use it or should I bin it and get a new one or could I clean does not the rust with wirewool or something?

I had a look on the internet and I'm getting conflicting information as you usually do...

Is there any warranty that you can claim on, 18 months is far too short for any kitchen appliance to deteriorate like this.
I have never had a microwave rust like that.

The other half informs me we have it about 3 years, I can honestly remember the day I bought it feels like only a few months ago.

Warranty would be out of the question I would think. I was reading about sanding down the rust and painting with a special heat resistant paint which can be bought from Amazon fairly cheap but I'm thinking just get a new one? I was looking at a combination microwave for 100 quid which seems like a better investment than the standard microwave?

I have two rust badly. It always starts where the wheels, on the turntable, rub on the floor of the oven & removes the paint.

Did you continue to use them or get a new one?

Maybe buy one with a stainless steel interior?

I have a Samsung combi microwave at the moment, which has a ceramic interior. I only have it a year, so time will tell if it'll be any better than microwaves with painted interiors.

How do you find the Samsung combi microwave? Do you get much use out of the grill/oven part?

Haha, it's never bloody used! :D

Got it with the notion that it'd be handy if the standard single oven was being used cooking something else and we needed an added oven, plus it was physically bigger and fitted the recess better than a standalone microwave.

In retrospect, a standard Samsung microwave with ceramic interior would've done! Can be awkward too when cleaning around the grill element etc that is in the way.

We've got one like that as well, the only time the grill gets used is then someone turns the knob the wrong way and grills the plastic food cover! :o (not me btw)
