That whole area is a mess. People and especially taxis parked everywhere dropping and picking up. It's very tight but removing right turns might speed it up a bit

I wonder if you can still drive straight through from Bothar
Bhreandain Ui Eithir to Fairgreen Road?

Yes. Buses will be going up Fairgreen Rd to leave the city via Lough Atalia Rd.

What's the other notice about? Closing the road for a street event?

presume it is related to the NEW/resumed building works beside the Coach Station?

IMPORTANT - Check out the "Drawing" of the diversion routes in the above link. Very detailed engineering drawings.

Wonder how much that cost...Tobin's/Arup must have had their best man on it

They're finally completing the building works at the Coach Station. Better late than never, will vastly improve the look of the place.

Ageed. But I'm not sure how it's going to be with hundreds of students living in apartments upstairs, though

    Bump??
    T'was in last weeks Advertiser.

    I missed that ...

Just looked on the city website, and it says:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Galway City Council has made an order closing:-
Forster Street from Fairgreen Road/Forster St Junction at Coach Station to Eyre Square/Forster Street junction
    Period of Closure: From 15:30, 15th October until 20:30, 15th October, 2016.
Reason: To facilitate a street event.
Alternative Routes: Alternative routes for traffic will be via signposted diversion routes.
Diversion Routes: Vehicles travelling from Bóthar Bhreandain Ui Eithir or College Road will travel onto Lough Atalia Road, Dock Road, Merchants Road and into Eyre Square.
    Alternative routes will be signposted.
Advance signage will be in place prior to closure.

    Ref: http://www.galwaycity.ie/news/539/59/Notice-of-Decision-Temporary-Closure-of-Forster-Street/

Bolding mine, to highlight the key details.

The 15th is a Saturday - traffic will still be pretty manic. It was bad enough last year when it was closed on a Sunday due to the incident on the hotel window.

    What's the street event?

Seriously though, this one isn't even remotely amusing... If you want to try to be witty, you're gonna need to pick better moments.

This is borderline trolling at best, so there'll be warnings/cards next time.

Why lane removal? Road has now been marked out for BUS Bays outside the main Coach Station entrance due to the ongoing construction works next to the Coach Station which has removed some of the bays from operation.

    I was wrong.

All traffic from Bothar Bhreandain Ui Eithi now must turn left to college Rd or right to forster St.

It's possible to drive around the diversion signs and go straight ahead, but is clearly not what you're supposed to be doing.

I got the Clifden Citylink bus last week. It headed down a bit towards the Radisson, reversed towards the back entrance of the station/Simon Shelter and turned around and back on to Forster St.
