Called 3 garages about an Audi STG£14k. Won't decide until the day which car. Garages want a bank transfer which isn't possible in advance as I don't be deciding until I lay eyes on car on the day.
Anyone know how bank drafts would work - are they acceptable? Looks like it would have to be a Friday (not wknd) if using a bank draft - so garage could lodge it.. anyone done this?
£14k in cash is very bulky to long haul safely.

Any ideas on how to safely pay? - The thing about lodging to garage account in advance if I did pick the car before travelling is what if the car doesn't exist - something wrong how can you possibly get your money back if its already in the garage account? See the problem with transfers?
Any and all help and suggestions appreciated.

You'll be lucky to find a UK dealer willing to accept a bank draft. If you were set up with a currency transfer service, ie bought the GBP in advance and set up the dealer as a recipient then it should be possible to arrange the transfer on the day. Better to arrive at the dealership early. Are the cars prep'd? Not always possible for same day drive-away with UK dealers.

I had to stay overnight as I couldn't get cash from machine enough to pay in one day, Had I planned it in advance one of those pre paid cards would have made more sense. Don't worry about choosing before you go enough good cars that you'll find something to suit you unless you're in the specialist market for a Lamborghini or suchlike
