Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

any advice welcome: the radiators upstairs aren't heating but are downstairs

they were working upstairs a few weeks ago when they were first put on after the summer

when i looked at the pressure valve it was low so i brought it up hoping that this would fix the problem but it hasn't, nor has bleeding and balancing the radiators and the pump

any other ideas how to fix it before i ring the plumber

    main on/off switch

    then a separate upstairs/downstairs switch

    thermostat radiators

Have you checked the thermostat is calling for heat if turned up high enough?

Can you manually override the switch that's controlled by the thermostat?

there should be a small lever on it that can be manually opened. try that.

    Example image just from google

Assuming you have been getting water when bleeding upstairs rads, find the motorised valve that the upstairs switch controls and use the manual lever to turn it on.
Turn on all your zones and the valve that gives a lot of resistance on the manual lever will most likely be the upstairs one.

The motorized valve will look like one above or have a white or yellow plastic cover instead of the metal one above.

Is there a light on the motorised valve?

When you turn the thermostat up to full does it come on?

Does the copper cylinder water heat when you turn on the upstairs zone. You will know if the flow and return pipes to the copper cylinder are getting hot. There should be a balance valve on one of these pipes

It's a problem, call a plumber, I don't think any online advise can help you at this point.
