There is a rumour going around that the pressure came from FIFA due to Sony being a main sponsor for the World Cup.

For you maybe, but there is a lot of people who were looking forward to giving Pro Evo a go. Just look back at this thread.

People who owned the game physically sold off their copies because they were getting it on plus. Sony screwed them over.

Now it looks like they didn't even let the publishers know they were changing.

They should have either offered Detroit as a third game or made no changes once announced.

The only way to make good on this is to add Pro back into the games line up as soon as they can.

I have not played a soccer game in ages so would be nice.

If people sold a physical copy of a game just because it will be on PS PLUS are insane

Why are they insane for selling it considering it was anounced to be in the free monthly games?

    What an odd comment.

I'd sell a game instantly if it was announced on ps plus before everyone else started doing it and driving down the trade price (cex), would be crazy not to.

Detroit continues to impress on a whole other level - on my 3rd hour now today and it’s absolutely gripping. If you are in the fence about downloading it don’t be, it’s an excellent game and story.

Selling it for what €1.50 in gamestop? It's not Sony's fault they sold them.

It sells for between 14 & 18 euro in CEX currently. That's after they would have got a good few in from people trading in when it was announced so maybe a bit more a week or so ago when the announcement was made.

Costs about 28 euro to buy back from CEX. Those people have a legitimate reason to be pissed.

When a game is announced in Plus, a player has every reason to believe that Sony has done it's due diligence and that game will be available when stated. You know because they announced it.

Look, I know there's plenty of people who aren't interested in Football games but even if you feel like the deal worked out for you personally you must surely understand why others have taken issue.

Nice to see people looking down on others for selling games!

Sorry but those people are ****in stupid and don’t deserve sympathy if you ask me - I’ve had games on disc before that came out on Plus and you know what I did? I didn’t download them and kept the copy I had. I didn’t go racing to CEX for a minimum cash trade in because it was pointless - I already owned the game.

I just don’t get the backlash, the initial announcement in my eyes was met with “that’s another month I can skip”. Then they bring out Detroit as a replacement and it’s a ****in unreal title - it grabs you and doesn’t let go. No game of computerised football comes close to it.

Football games are seasonal. Getting 14 euro back on something you won't play again come September while also still being able to play that game until the new one comes out is hardly stupid. In fact it's the complete opposite.
I just don’t get the backlash, the initial announcement in my eyes was met with “that’s another month I can skip”.

I read plenty of positive reactions in here to the announcement to be fair. Plenty where looking forward to trying it out as they had been playing FIFA for most of the year myself included.

There's plenty of months where I've zero interest in the games given out and I know that not everything is gonna appeal to me.

If you don't play football games fair enough, not every title on plus is going to be for you. Still doesn't make it right.

    For you.

Also detroit was on sale a couple of weeks ago for single digits so let's not go on like they have given something of huge value in here.

I'm not even hating on Detroit because I'll happily give it a go at some stage, hell I'll probably even like it given the glowing reviews.

Won't change the fact that this has been a ****show. At the very least offer some kind of explanation.

Let's be honest here though, people tried to pull a fast one on GameStop and/or CEX here (with a game with nearly zero resale value) so it's hard to have too much sympathy.

PS plus is not designed to release games for players to return owned copies for profit or to recoup their investment, it's to release games as part of the service and sometimes people end up with a double. If people want to try to "get back 14 euro" by reselling, it's on their heads and not Sony's problem nor their concern.

That said and taking out people's decision to sell back the game, the whole thing has been a very odd and messy incident that nobody has come out looking better from really.

Contradiction no? You won’t play the new game until September but you’ll trade it now while it’s still worth something? I get FIFA every year and I’m burnt out on it by feb or March - it coming free on plus in July would register zero ****s.

No there is nothing right about this and let me make this clear, I’m not gloating or stirring the **** with the people who wanted PES. Something happened that meant it couldn’t be offered - in this case we got an absolutely brilliant game in its place. Any other month and I guarantee 99% of those complaining would be praising Sony for dropping a title of this quality in comparison to some of the reeking ****e they’ve offered in precious times.

Single figures really?? Because it’s been sitting in my wishlist at 70 quid since days of play and even earlier, so I’d be interested to know when it has ever been at single digits. Not having a go at you on this point at all, but I regularly keep an eye for offers and have never seen Detroit anywhere near that kind of price point

Brilliant game is a matter of perspective, even the word game in this context is a matter of perspective imo.

I can see why some are happier with DBH,i can also see why people are peeved that Pro was announced then yanked.

What i cant understand is how someone cant see the perspective of the other side:P

Also of course people were right to trade the game if it was gonna be on plus, just throwing away money otherwise. If you have enough money not to care about that sort of stuff, fair enough,no need to be an asshat calling people stupid for doing it though

Went to download Detroit out of morbid but genuine curiosity (I’m not a fan of David Cage’s writing to put it mildly) and it automatically went to download Heavy Rain. That’s like Apple forcing a crappy U2 album onto your phone :pac:

But it's not about that. People who bought the game originally and still have/had it most likely had no intention of trading it in so any money at this stage would have been nothing more than a bonus. Its on their head if they trade it in.

Should Sony/GameStop/CEX reimburse every game owner of a game that they owned which subsequently came out on PS Plus? Of course not. Albeit rare and the first time, Sony have the right to pull games from any PS Plus line-up, before, during or after its release as a PS Plus monthly game. So selling your game is selling your outright ownership of it.

I still have PES which I probably won't play too much more of and those who traded it in got their 15/20 quid. So they seem fairly better off to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,455 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Nobody is asking to be reimbursed. The game was announced as a Plus title for July, given that some people already paid money for it, they saw it as a good chance to make a few quid back on their purchase (anyone that owned it on disc and didn’t trade it in before last Tuesday were effectively only going to get one game on Plus this month, until PES was replaced). Then Sony inexplicably pulled the game with no real explanation (I don’t recall it happening before in my time as a subscriber) and those people were rightly pissed off.

If anyone is actually asking to be reimbursed, they’re being foolish, but I haven’t seen any of that. Most just want it to be added to the Plus lineup as announced. It seems like the outrage is being blown out of proportion by the crowd that are happy to see it replaced with Detroit.

I never owned the game FTR, I was very much looking forward to getting it for nothing, but that didn’t happen so I’m a little annoyed by that.

As Eoin said, it’s a bit mad how no side can see this from the other party’s perspective. You have a lot of people delighted to get Detroit for free, and another group with every right to be unhappy that the rug has been pulled from underneath them.

Contradiction? I'm lost as to why?

You play 2019 now, play 2020 in September. People who played FIFA all year can try Pro out before the new ones come to get a feel of gameplay etc.. , people who have it can save a little maybe put it towards the new game.

Could have gave Pro a nice little boost ahead of the new games as FIFA has been terrible this year.
I get FIFA every year and I’m burnt out on it by feb or March - it coming free on plus in July would register zero ****s.

Cool. That's the way you do it, which is grand. Others play the games a bit longer. Each to their own and all that.

No there is nothing right about this and let me make this clear, I’m not gloating or stirring the **** with the people who wanted PES. Something happened that meant it couldn’t be offered - in this case we got an absolutely brilliant game in its place. Hey, had they announced it as the game in the first place I'd be praising them too. But they didn't and they didn't offer any explanation or anything. Just pulled it on the day of release.

Does that not register with you at all as kinda ****ty behaviour towards your customers?
Single figures really?? Because it’s been sitting in my wishlist at 70 quid since days of play and even earlier, so I’d be interested to know when it has ever been at single digits. It was either here or reddit I seen because I remember reading it. Possible it was a US only deal if it was reddit. I've no idea as Detroit wasn't a game I was watching previously but yeah that's the exact quote I read "single digits" So under 10 at some stage recently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,897 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

I bought Detroit about 2 weeks ago on the US store for 8 dollars (about 6 euro). Also, selling pes is 'pulling a fast one on Gamestop and cex'? :pac:

No one should be reimbursed but every right to be pissed. Ps plus is usually shyte, then they announce a game that people were looking forward to and pull it at the last second for one people either owned & cleared, got in a recent sale or had no interest in. Of course people will be disappointed.

I rarely actually play the free games for any length of time, so quite happy with DBH. It was the crappy way it was switched is the problem. Actually getting bet into Borderlands 2 at present. Trying to put it down as I'm risking burnout with 3 coming but.I.just.can't.stop....

I did burn out playing with my axton build, but changed it up to play with gaige and i'm flying again!

Because you have the game. If a game comes up in PS Plus and I have it I go oh well.

Nothing wrong with selling games but to sell a game because it can be got on PS Plus and get what between €12 to €18 is a lot of hassle in my estimation

I know what you're saying, it can be a hassle for some people and the effort might not pay off. But I live near a CEX and it's not that much hassle for me to do so. If the game sitting on my shelf is worth 15 bucks and I happen to have 4 of them in a year, that saving could pay for next years PSN or a brand new game. :D

But looking down on people as being somehow stingy for parting with their physical copy, as they've been given a digital license is a bit shítty :(

I am more looking down at there outrage because they just sold the game. I am agreeing pulling the game and not telling people is bad

Played about an hour of DBH last night, I'm very intrigued even if it is quite slow. It's about an hour more than I would have given PES so I'm happy with the change.
