A rogue Dorito piece assaulting this young mans eye in such a fashion, disgraceful. Absolutely ****ing disgraceful. Thank you Limerick Leader for shining a light on this despicable act.

I banged my head on my kitchen press and gave myself a concussion a few years back. It happened on an election day as well but it didn't stop me voting as the concussion didn't become evident until later. If only I'd thought to contact the Leader and tell them about it, I could have been famous. :(

We were clearing some books and things out of my grandmother's archives a few months ago and came across some newspaper clippings she'd kept. The Limerick Leader's special edition on Limerick's Sexiest Men was proudly in there, with my picture in the "People's Choice" section after all the campaigning here on Boards. :D

As a Limerick man living outside the county and wanting to keep up with the happenings in Limerick I have to say the Leader is awful, awful scutter .... The problem with Limerick is no one really wants to question anyone else for fear of upsetting them. Everyone wants to look after their own little patch. We must have one of the most incompetent City councils around - people earning big money who merely tick boxes to justify it - yet our local press rarely call them out. The sports writers are all up Munster's back side and everything else is poorly thought out or misinformed. Your man Martin Kiely that writes on GAA is a dinosaur banging the same drum for years.

All in all, it's just typical of Limerick --- we deserve much, much better but we get mediocrity and on-wards the circle jerk goes.

There's no such thing as 'reputable paranormal investigators'. The phrase you're looking for is 'shysters'.

A member of the production crew confirmed they were filming in the area at the time but did not witness what happened inside the shop

Hillarious! So they didn't witness the incident and were just filming somewhere in the area. Hardly 'caught up in a theft'.

Just looking through this week's Leader and their coverage of Riverfest is absolutely shocking. There isn't one picture of The Shannon,or a river based activity, not one. Instead we have a picture special of the barbeque, an article about the barbeque, details of the winners in the barbeque, a quote from some kid getting a burger at the barbeque.

Their lead up to Riverfest was equally as poor with Celia Holman Lee models posing by the river with extensive coverage of 'Fashion Friday'.

Way to show the tacky and ****e parts of Riverfest.

Would be no harm to start calling them out on this crap on social media. Banging on about it here will achieve little.

They really are appalling and do Limerick absolutely no favours.

They are pretty useless on Social Media - wouldnt bother. You need to tweet the editor/journo's themselves to get any response

Limerick folks should really turn on the Limerick Leader, in my opinion. It has done so much to damage the city over the years either through very lazy journalism or, more maliciously, by trading on the narrative of the city that they themselves helped create. It would be a good step forward for the city if it ceased publication, in my opinion.

Oh believe me I have and do frequently, to my own personal detriment, limerick being a small place and all.

it all started to go downhill a few years ago when it was sold off.

This Landmark media crowd are more interested in advertising than actual news reporting.

They're pretty much carrying weekly ads for the National Lottery at this point and dressing them up as news items. 'Limerick man hoping to strike it rich on winning streak'

    Just awful!

They'll do anything to crowbar "Limerick" into a headline.

Look at their website front page. It's beyond farcical - https://www.limerickleader.ie/section/131/news

I've tweeted Eugene Phelan with that Cork story! The paper has gone downhill fast, during the 90's were probably the best times for the Leader.
