Went back a few pages and couldn't see a thread, so apologies if covered previously....

Any recommendations/opinions on WiFi doorbells? We are out of the house all day, and the garda community officer went around the area last night informing us there's a gang in the area testing houses by knocking on doors..

    Cheers.

Depends on what you are looking for.

Have been hearing great things about this one, but it is costly

One that'll work as an intercom to the mobile if someone knocks.

    Cheers for the link

Thinking about pulling the trigger on that, but am wary that it's cheap crap..

"Ring" is probably the market leader right now but really its all a gimmick.

The non security feature is dealing with couriers but they just end up being pissed off after 30s chatting to you to find out they can't make the delivery anyway.

The security feature is negated by the lack of cars in the drive and these scrotes not being complete fools. 2nd video doorbell they see they'll know exactly what's going on.

It probably is, so perhaps cut out the middle man and buy direct from AliExpress yourself here and risk half the money.

Sorry I don't fully agree on this being a gimmick.

Yes, the courier may be pissed off but once you see its an official courier you can either not answer, and they'll come back, or ask to drop it in with a neighbour.

On the second issue, yes they aren't stupid but just because there are no cars in the drive doesn't mean nobody's home and they test this by ringing a doorbell. Now you may not be home but you do see who is at your door and you can act accordingly. As you say once they see a few of these they may become wise to them but they still can't be sure nobody's home or how soon you can have someone at the house. Robbers don't like unnecessary risks like this.

Also remember that these come with a motion sensor so if positioned correctly will activate once someone walks into your driveway and you can see them acting suspiciously whether or not they ring the bell.
