Crop on the Road to Carrigaline

Odd enough question but does anyone know what was planted in the large field on the main Cork/Carrigaline road just around Carrs hill on the right if your heading to Carrigaline.

it looked to be growing and then sprayed off, the crop looked to be dead, was left like that for a few weeks but was harvested the other day.

Pass it every day and it had me confused!!!

At a guess it was probably maize ( was around 7ft tall?)

Nah much lower
I'm from a farming background so have an idea what most crops look like.

This one was about 3 or 4 feet and a bit leafy.
Was totally brown for weeks, like it was killed off...

Japanese knotweed ?

Beans or rapeseed I would say. These crops are often dessicated before harvesting.

Nah, it's a huge field of it

Rapeseed is normally yellow when growing isn't it? This crop wasn't.

Beans maybe, not familiar with how its grown/harvested

Don't think so, it wasn't that tall
