Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Dumphy was spot on.

it doesn't matter, for certain people on this forum saying anything negative about the Ireland team is a big no-no pre-game.

No matter how correct the point Dunphy makes are, some people just want to go lalalalalalalalalala can't hear you

Brady is kind of wasted where he is right now, Whelan could have been there and throw Brady out wide instead of McClean.

The dropping back deep with no pace is killing us.

Our best games were Wes in the centre during euros.

He scored and set up our goals.

    Unbelievable he isn't playing.

He's a great man to bring off the bench though. Just as the defence gets comfortable he comes in and offers something completely different. Can still make a huge impact.

Who is the home team here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,605 ✭✭✭✭Akrasia

Georgia capable of slow patient buildup, keeping possession and creating chances.

Ireland seem to rush every time we get the ball and give it away too quickly

We could be loosing by then.

    I don't get this logic.

Don't know why Ireland's confidence to play a bit of football has apparently evaporated after the Euros. I had optimism about it, but apparently it's been misplaced, much as it was after the 2002 WC finals.

    'ck sake, lads...

This is very tough to watch, we're stuck in the stone age.

When he starts games he hasn't had the same impact and has ran out of steam after an hour. Look I don't agree with it, I would have started him but I can see the logic.

    Wales 1-0 ahead in Austria.

Being bossed by Georgia.. at home..

when this happened against these kinda teams under Trap there were calls for the sack..

will it happen now? Not a thing has changed..

    This is just brutal..

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,137 ✭✭✭TimRiggins

Surely Jack Byrne is worth a go if this really is the best we can do at midfield.

Dunphy is spot on about McCarthy.

Ward running the ball out of play under no pressure sums this up neatly

  • Registered Users Posts: 198 ✭✭LordAwesome

Jaysus, Ward runs the ball out of play in the full back position with ZERO pressure on him.

    Glenn whelan has been awful.

Byrne is struggling to get in a terrible Blackburn team. 1-1 now in Austria

McCarthy plays the wrong pass, loses it, fouls the player.

Ward runs it out under no pressure.

    This is dire.

The gameplan hasn't worked from MON. Let's see if he has the courage to change things.

    Not sure if serious

He showed more technique in the Dutch league last season then anyone of our midfielders have for years.

Do I detect a bit of urgency creeping into our play?

    There was a gameplan?

Long ball and hope for a break counts as a gameplan now?..

Just keeping up the tradition of somebody blaming him for all of Ireland's problems .

Their right back has handled McClean easily so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,561 ✭✭✭Duff

McClean is a poor mans Daryl Horgan

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

    McClean is brainless

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,120 ✭✭✭justshane

This match is just confirming to me what I suspected, Dundalk play more exciting football against arguably similar level opposition. Something's wrong with our international football mentality.

You can't flip problems like this on and off like a switch.

This problem is self-inflicted. Put Brady out to the left instead of McClean, with Hoolahan into the centre.

McClean is having a poor game. Don't see what others see in him.

We look like we haven't a prayer as far as scoring goes and they look most likely to break the deadlock. We need something else quick.

Bloody hell, miracles at the Aviva !!!! How did that ball stay out?????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,576 ✭✭✭bennyl10

This is as bad, if not worse, than anything before MON took over..

Jesus I know we're not the most talented team, but there's surely more ways to play than hoof ball, hope for luck, and rely on the opposition to not be able to finish their dinner!
