Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Finance Options NI/UK dealers

I'm looking at used Audi mid range and have seen high spec NI and UK versions which do not appear in Irish dealers. Anyone have experience with a main dealer in Belfast or in Britain obtaining finance with ROI address?

I don't think you can get finance in a country you are not resident in.

As Bazz said, wouldn't think its possible.

What if you stopped paying? Could they chase you for the debt from another country?

What is stopping you from obtaining finance from ROI institution?

Coincidentally, I literally called an NI dealer 5 mins before seeing this post asking the same question. No, they cannot finance a buyer without an address in the North (or rest of UK most likely).

The dealer IS NOT the institution that provides the financing, they are just facilitating it... Like a broker...

Banks have certain restrictions on their lending terms. Normally if it's a regular car loan they will insist on the car being bought from a registered dealer and some may exclude dealers in another country.

Dealers facilitate applying for finance every day on behalf of customers so they have a very good idea who will be successful and who won't. They are not going to waste their time or a customer's time applying for finance that they know is unlikely to be approved.

I think we all know that, cheers.
