Hard to look beyond Yauheni Hutarovich.

Sam Bennett at 80/1 is genuinely attractive with his late season form.

As much as I love Bennett, and I have been impressed by him, he's mostly beaten nobodies. I hope I'm wrong but I can't see it.

Yea that Mark Cavendish chap he beat a couple of weeks ago in the Giro della Toscana isn't up to much.;)

Yep, first on stage 7 of La Tropicale Amissa Bongo earlier in the year. 135th in the Vuelta in 2010, 134th in 2014. Nice progression to his form there. Could peak for these worlds.

Fair enough, but the rest of the field was weak. I sincerely hope I'm wrong! The fact it'll be a hard race probably suits him though.

What I'm still trying to figure out is what way is the list of riders in the OP sorted?

It's not alphabetical. It's not by size of the odds. It's puzzling me!

Just watched a replay of last years on Eurosport .. what a great race , I was once again shouting for SAGAN :D

Unless the WIND plays a big factor in this years race I don't see how we will see that type of excitement !

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 724 ✭✭✭JK.BMC

    Greipel. All the way.

9/2 for the 3 top favs then 7/1 bar in such a big field isn't the best of value. It's very much an event where in-running punting can bring rewards.

Hutarovich is also a previous Tour de France lanterne rouge winner; could heasily add a world's to that,?????

Magnus Cort nielson could be an interesting wild card at 50:1 going on his 2 wins in the vuelta

    It's Paddy Power's fault!

They are listing in 3 columns so you will see the 3 favourites are at 1, 4 and 7 above, with 4th favourite at 10 etc and Hutarovich top of column 2

Caleb Ewan at 25/1 could be worth a punt.

That said, I think Greipel is going to win.

Just a bit of fun... Cyclingnews website have a short quiz about the favourites for the Men's World RR.

How well do you know the likes of Sagan, Greipel, Kittel and... Hutarovich :pac:

    http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/how-well-do-you-know-the-world-champion-favourites-quiz/

    I scored 8 out of 12 :o

Sam's in to 50-1 - probably still worth an e/w bet.

Hutarovich has the form all right. No denying that.

I think Kristoff at 14/1 is a good bet ...Won alot in the desert in spring

If there are winds he could do well and the length will suit him

I think though the tempretaure of this race wil be the deciding factor...no shade whatsoever so maybe Matthews at 50/1 or even Gegenkolb at 33/1 maybe be worth an each way bet ?

I think either way it will come down to strong men as opposed to pure sprinters

    Sagan maybe a bit weary

I think whoever manages to cope in the heat so maybe an Aussie - Caleb Ewan!
Just saw a clip of a crash in the womens TTT and the rider was clearly suffering in the heat.
Just seemed to ride straight into a kerb/barrier and was clearly not in a good state when she got back up. Very disorientated.

Sky are likely to snap him up and turn him into a Tour contender with form like that, smart money is on him winning the TT in next years Tour

Yeah, also I heard he has asthma, so it all points to an exciting future for the lad.

just watched the orica backstage pass and barely anyone out watching. an utter joke of an event and a farce that the uci sent the worlds to an oven in the middle of a desert with zero cycling history.

I think that was awarded to them in 2012 so chapeau to our man McQuaid for that.

he woulda been better giving it to china, at least they use bikes.

Meanwhile, anybody got any official race cards and formbook for the camel racing? To be honest, that is probably the only viable form of competitive racing worth staging in Qatar. Not the mention the appalling treatment of children forced to ride the beasts. From here, it looks like a lego-land kip of a place.

Still think Greipel won't give a toss and take victory anyway. Then get outta dodge on the first helicopter

  • Registered Users Posts: 604 ✭✭✭Finnrocco

I think Colbrelli - I know he's not a bunch galloper, but he is fast in a small group, and he is in good form.

I don't think the race will follow the script, the winds and heat could split it to pieces.
