Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Great answer on why she's not donating to her own campaign.

    Brilliant.

    Killer.

    Predictably the moderators protect her.

Since when are candidates not allowed to ask each other questions?

So only billionaires should run for president?

You must be watching a different debate.

    He's performing very well.

I must be. To use one of his favourite words, he's been a disaster. He's had moment's where he's doing well, but he invariably starts to ramble off the topic and follow his stream of consciousness, or better yet start going about Twitter, 3am, Putin, all words he should have been strictly forbidden from mentioning unless forced to. His body language is awful, it's like he's had no advice on that at all.

I think you will find in the end of the day he will not be putting any of his own money in. He is giving loans to the GOP that will have to be paid back to him

He did skewer her on the funding question.

Trump a big fan of wind energy. No surprise.

That hot air. It's going to be huge believe me, believe me.

Yeah because that helps her massively, he's perceived as being a putin puppet, he shouldn't be mentioning it at all unless he's sure of how to refute it, which did a very bad job of, again.

Trump or Clinton? I'd gladly take door number 3.

Andrew Neil raised a good point wondering why Clinton didn't list all the leading Republicans who have disassociated themselves from Trump's campaign.

    Did she think it unnecessary?

I'm mainly listening to it so I can't speak for body language.

But he hasn't committed any major mistakes and hasn't given the media any easy soundbites.

That was such a politician's answer from Hillary. Not the sort of answer people want to hear.

Interesting how Trump, the constant interrupter, had nothing to say about Clinton saying he is buying illegally dumped steel from China.

    And thank you, Karl Becker!

That last question was undoubtedly trumps best answer in comparison.

Weird that they didn't at the start, it was awkward.

All in all I thought Clinton was less solid than last time, trump improved, but he still made so many mistakes. But the bar is so low for him now

Trump did much better than the first debate.

I judge mistakes on their likelihood to negatively influence voters, and for my money none of his mistakes reached that threshold.

The opening of the debate was quiet vile, and disgusting. It wasn't too bad after that. I think Trump won personally, but the spin masters in the media will spin it in Clinton's favour I'd say.

All in all for a nation as large as America, to have these two candidates as the last two standing is truly terrifying. I think the whole American political system is damaged beyond repair to be honest. Truly shocking stuff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,388 ✭✭✭✭Jayop

Given pence came out against him and then Trump basically screwed him over I don't think pence leaving the ticket would be much of a surprise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

I thought he was done for in the opening part of the debate. He looked listless and his answers were all over the shop. She should have moved in for the knockout, brought up all those deserting his campaign; but she held off, presumably thinking he would self-implode.

He rattled her as it wore on with aggressive tactics and mud slinging; she looked off her game. But he also lost the plot at times, attacking the moderators and making bizarre claims like the comment on America's health system being preferable to Canada.

Honesty I don't think either of them won. I think it was a stalemate.

Whatever happens, pity America and the rest of the world.

Hillary did nothing to show she's not the establishment crony she is.

She leans on "diversity" and "equality" as a crutch while supporting crony capitalism.

The betting markets are saying DT did better today (these markets speak more accurately than polls and media opinions).
Shortened on five books, Ladbrokes pulling back to 3.75 (20%c price reduction).
