It was mentioned in the Irish Times yesterday that Trinity might he used to host 5,000 capacity gigs during the summer. Not sure if it meant  outdoors or in a marquee.

Alt-J, James Vincent McMorrow and Lord mentioned as possible acts.

How many fit in Iveagh Gardens? Seem a similar venue.

It looks like this guy might be someone to follow for future gig announcements. He seems to be in the know.

    Despite that he tagged Aiken?

Any chance of a Foo Fighters show anywhere in Ireland next year ???

Love if they played Aviva or Croke Park

Expecting Bon Jovi to announce a Euro tour shortly after Christmas

I'd be shocked. It seems a small tour to make up for cancelled shows last time out. They might add in Glastonbury, but wouldn't expect other UK shows even.

Sounds good if its gonna be like the old gigs in Dublin Castle .

    Thurs 11th May - 3Arena, Dublin.

Lady Gaga is expected to announce a World Tour straight after she plays the Super Bowl Halftime Show on Sunday February 5.
She's played Ireland on all of her tours to date so I'd imagine she'll come back. Expecting 1-2 nights at the 3Arena.
From looking at her previous schedules she tends to play Europe in Autumn but she's been tipped to play Glastonbury (not headlining) next summer.

*Edit - I could easily see her headlining the Sziget Festival in Budapest in August also

Does anyone think Bon jovi will announce a tour before Christmas? There still announcing US dates at the moment I see. It would make a Christmas present a lot easier to buy as i am struggling with ideas at the moment!

in 2014 Garth Brooks sold 400,000 tickets for 5 Croke Park dates (which didnt go ahead) so for 2017 or 2018 it would make sense for him to do an Irish stadium tour

heres an example of where and how many people he may play too

    Aviva Stadium Dublin (2 nights)- 48,000x2 (96,000)
    Kings Hall Belfast (2 nights)- 28,000x2 (56,000)
    PUC Cork (2 nights)- 40,000x2 (80,000)
    Thonmond Park Limerick (2 nights)- 28,000x2 (56,000)
    Nowlan Park Kilkenny (2 nights)- 27,000x2 (54,000)

    total 342,000

As the shows would not be comeback specials a lot of overseas fans would not travel over to see him here compared to 2014, a lot of bandwagon fans may not attend

he will prob just play Croke Park and Belfast whenever he comes back here

Maybe a Garth Brooks tour but doubt it

    Bieber or someother pop act

Bon Jovi would not be the spin 1038 demographic

Really hope it's not a band I like as I spent a fortune on tickets the last few weeks

    Yup!

With it being spin I'd imagine it's very pop!

Extremely cynical behaviour but it seems to be the norm in this part of the world.
Every tom dick and harry is trying to cash in on the Christmas market .

Think it's musicians who have no souls. They were releasing albums for Christmas long before concert tickets

So was there an announcement yesterday? Or is there one due today? There's no other news about a Croke Park gig.

    Ohh, that's good.

Two free dates in Croker. And the RDS is in use?

It's looking likely that Garth Brooks will play.

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,410 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

I imagine that's it for 2017 gig announcements for this year ???

Hopefully the Croke Park spots will be filled but will not be surprised if there not

are they really that level still?...
Marlay park surely would be plenty..

Bands that are/may tour Europe next year and have not announced an Irish date are

    Kings Of Leon
    Foo Fighters
    Adele
    Muse
    RHCP
    Rammstein
    Garth Brooks
    Bon Jovi
    Ed Sheeran
    Metallica
    U2
    Rolling Stones
    Beyonce
    Jay Z
    Kanye West
    Pink
    Lady Gaga
    Fleetwood Mac

2017 looks quite impressive with a lot of acts playing Ireland. Hopefully I will be around to set up a 2018 Irish gig's rumour thread lol

Stevie Nicks announced as special guest at Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers gig in London this July (European exclusive for Petty).

I wonder does that mean she is doing a solo tour this summer?
