I'm studying to repeat my leaving cert at the moment. I never used any of the revision books (revise wise etc.) in my leaving 2 years ago.

Are they any good for studying? Do they have all of the course, just condensed down to the points which you need to learn?

In my opinion some of them are useful and some of them are useless. They're basically the same thing as taking down notes in class only they tend to be a bit more condensed. In my experience these are the ones I found best:
    • English: Key Notes is great but only if you're doing the Single Text/Comparative found in the book. Otherwise check out Excellence in English Paper 2 by Educate.ie and see if they cover your texts because I'm finding it useful this year.
    • Irish: Gleasnotaí is great for the Sraith Pics, the poetry and the prose. Not much on any other part of the course.
    • Chemistry: The revision book from Folens (it's a companion to the Chemistry Live textbook) is genuinely great.
    • Biology: I used Revise Wise and found it useful but my friend had Biology Extra and that looked good too.
    • Physics: The little Essentials Unfolded book was really handy for quick revision but not enough to get an understanding of anything.
    • Business: Less Stress More Success is quite good.
    • Geography: Everyone has been telling me to buy Exam Skills by Sue Honan but I just haven't gotten around to it yet :P It's supposed to be a god send though.

All in all though, I found making notes from your textbook and marking schemes yourself were the best notes to have. But revision guides can be handy for quick revision on the bus or in the days before an exam.
