Yeah, he had a huge break and hopefully a good rest, will take a while to get back into it, all things considered 30 ain't bad

It's basically a home event this week for him too so hopefully he shook off the cobwebs last week and can give it a good go.

A disappointing missed cut from Seamus this week. Started very strongly on Thursday and was -4 after 9 holes and then just stalled. Dropped back to -1 last night then rallied to -4 inside the cut line with 4 holes to go. Made a terrible error then on the par 3 16th and put his tee shot into the water, a bad pull off the tee and that ended his tournament.

Very frustrating couple of days for him by all accounts. He lives not far from the course and has a sizeable Irish following so it would have been a good tournament to get into the weekend with a chance but not to be unfortunately.

He will have to be thinking about what might have been in the past year even with how well he has played, getting inside the top 50, and playing in his first four majors.

He has had two momentum crushing setbacks that have affected him for multiple weeks afterwards. Firstly the Pebble beach tournament where he imploded on day 3, and then the Irish open. He has not looked to have regained his confidence from that just yet.

5 under now, one off the lead.

Making hay on the par 5s so far this week. 4 birdies and one eagle. Hopefully a promising sign.

its probably the key component to success on courses where circa 20 under is going to win,you really can't compete unless you are getting your share on the par 5s.

In theory, this week should be a big opportunity for Seamus. He’s the only player from the OWGR top 50 in the field and there are only four other players from the top 100.

Let’s hope he brings his A game. He needs a couple of decent results to hold onto his top 50 ranking by year end.

65 yesterday and 3 off the lead. T16 overall. Higgs, Detry and Sigg probably the only other names I'm familiar with.

I dunno what the setup is like but scoring was great. If it's that easy for the weekend it'll be super low into 20s to needed to win.

6 under so far today but scoring is really good again.

Nicely placed on -12 just 2 off the lead. He was lucky he got out early yesterday. Weather turned very wet and windy in the afternoon. Wouldn't suit Seamus, coming from a warm dry county.

This is a huge chance now for Seamus, a weak event with a good payday and full fedex points on offer.

Scoring is absolutely savage regardless of field. It'll be 4 days of very very low golf to win it

Blistering start today, -4 for 5. T1 now. Hope he keeps this up

6 under through 12 and tied for the lead. Hopefully he can keep it up.

    Followed by a double!

sensational shot into 14th out of the rough with ball above his feet.

The wind coming off the sea on the par 3 16th is class!!

    Seamus safely on green

Another 65 tomorrow should do the trick.

Brian Gay the big danger here. He has some record in this tournament. Hopefully Seamus keeps his head and he should be by far the best player with his record in the majors way above what any of these can offer.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,781 ✭✭✭Motivator

A huge opportunity tonight for Seamus. If he wins it, brilliant, if he doesn’t then you’d hope someone beats him rather than him having a poor day. Three 65s is some going regardless of how easy the course is playing, the score still has to be posted.

Its also worth remembering that Power has no divine right to win it based on his ranking, any of these guys are capable of winning a tournament regardless of their ranking. A tour win on the PGA is most definitely earned. It’s a great chance for him to win it and from this position you’d hope he does do it.

Hopefully he can take this chance. Opportunities to win on the PGA tour are rare. A win here effectively locks down a card for 3 seasons and opens the door again to more majors in 2023 which wll be important if he wants to make the Ryder Cup team. His confidence hoing into the last couple of pre xmas events would also soar.

Hope he can do it today. Came back really well last few holes after the double bogey so the head should be in a good place. Even if he doesn’t win a top 3 should hopefully keep him in top 50 for end of season and pressure off for the Masters entry.

Looks a two horse race alright, which is an achievement of sorts in its own right

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 344 ✭✭Scrabbel

Griffin doesnt look like backing off at all

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,417 ✭✭✭PokeHerKing

Griffin looking like a dude who knows he should just enjoy this and not fear it. Ripping into everything. I'd be rooting for him if it wasn't Seamus in the way.

Looking more and moreike a two horse race as they come down the stretch. Hopefully Power's experience will be the difference.
