Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Oh ya there have been days when I haven't had a cent. It doesn't bother me too much because having lots of money doesn't drive me.

    2 older.

Do you know anyone who is a lot younger than their brother or sister and who were in all likelihood 'a mistake'?

My next door neighbour...She has a niece that's older than her.....And she was arguing with her mother the other night when they were drunk and she screamed maybe you'll tell me who my real father is......

I never asked but I'm sure it was in bed in mum and dads room, though where the sex takes place is not necessarily where or when conception happens.

    Were you a mammys pet?

With eight of us my mother had no time for pets, though we are very close, but that's because I still live on the family land and farm it, I think she sees me as following on from the old man. I was his pet, he always brought me with him when he was going anywhere and when he needed a hand at home I got kept off school.

Can you visualise your life now if someone passed was still in it and how different things might be if they were still here?

My mam has dementia so she isn't with me anymore. She's alive but not my mammy because of that bàstàrd illness. If she was well then everything would be so much better. My dad would be delighted, Christmas would be Christmas again, we'd go for our little shopping trips, I would share my experiences with her, I'd have my anchor back.

There is another way of looking at it though. Not having her meant I found out that the only anchor you have in life is yourself. Nobody else will prop you up. Sure there are people who support you and love you but ultimately contentment rests with yourself.

I miss her everyday but not having her gave me an inner resilience I didn't have before.

    Same question to you :)

My mam passed away 3 weeks ago but it hasn't sunk in yet so I don't know if that counts.

Do you have to wear certain clothes to work?

Everlast75, really sorry to hear about your loss.

We have a dress code at work which is fairly casual but I always wear a shirt and trousers. Except Friday, I might wear Jeans.

What temperature does it have to be before you will start wearing shorts?

I can relate to a lot of what you're saying. I'll give you my "support and love" but I know that's not what will keep you going throughout this time.

Very sorry to hear that everlast75. I hope the months ahead are kind to you.

I don't have to wear certain clothes or maybe "professional looking" is probably more accurate.

Do you notice a fresh or different smell in your house when you've managed to clean the place top to bottom like i have today? :D

    Sorry about your mam.

It does take a while for things like that to sink in and I hope your fond memories help and make it easier to cope. I still think of the old fella and what he would think on things I'm doing on the farm even yet, and he's yonks dead, and my twin brother as well everytime I'm at something we used to do together.
Not a sadness but just what they would make of things I've done at home and the way the world has changed.

@pers, sorry for your mam too, I know from two elderly relatives the waste and disaster of that infliction too.

    Where's the party tonight?

As long as you play Do You Want Your Old Lobby Washed down. My late Dad loved that one :)

Are there some songs that are just too painful to listen to? Also why are the deceased referred to as late, not like they are gonna be early for anything again?!
