Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Advice needed on a high mileage Audi A4

I can't mind up my mind about whether or not to change my car. It's a 2005 A4 2.0TDi with 360,000 KM and has just passed the NCT. It's the model with the BLB engine code that gave oil pump trouble in some cases. In the past my mechanic has referred to this engine code as Big Loud Bang or Big Load of Balls but the car continues to run excellently and defy his and my own expectation. I have serviced it every 20,000km for the last 7 years and I believe this is why it continues to tick along....I've treated it really well over the years. I cannot find any of the same age and model on any Irish used car website today with higher mileage. It's on it's original clutch and turbo, EGR valve failed years ago and was changed.

Looking for logic here as I'm attached to the car plus who in their right mind would want to buy it off me? I can't decide what's right. Thanks.

It's value to you is fare higher than its monetary value. Either run her till she dies or sell her and be willing to accept around a grand.

Ball on I'd say. If the doors and windows are all working and you have no SRS warnings then you truly have an exceptional one!

Run her til she dies makes sense to me. Above what repair cost would you say don't bother and scrap her? I'm thinking about the clutch or turbo for example.....if any of of them went...that's a grand in money.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

I'd say the vast majority of major failings (of lubricated parts) in modern cars wouldn't happen if the car got an annual oil service. Your car being a good example.

    Drive on!

Keep driving it. If you have a light on the dash get it scanned and check the actual error code on google.

I'd keep it, as its really not worth much with that mileage.
However, I'd start putting a bit away for a new car in case something does go seriously wrong with the audi and its not worth fixing.
