Moving from Carer's Allowance to State Pension

    Hi all,

I am asking this question on behalf of my father.

He was on the Carer's Allowance. He is no longer on this, and, he is now transferring onto Disability Allowance.

He is 65 now, and will turn 66 in January (the age for the State Pension, correct?). He worked all his life up until around late 2008 (I think). Can he, upon turning 66, apply for the State Pension? He keeps telling me that as he was receiving the Carer's Allowance for 3 years that he won't get the full State Pension. Is this correct, or what can happen in this situation?

    Thanks in advance.
