Water Coolers Bottles

Just wondering about using water cooler bottles as fermentors.

I've had a quick search and came across a thread a few years old but no real answer

I "took a lend" of one and considering using it for a cider.

there are a few markings on it

Two that suggest it is to be used for water only.

The recycle symbol has a 7 inside it.

It'll work fine but they're not very robust so there's only so many times you'll be able to use it.

You would not have to worry about storing homebrew as the % alcohol is so low it would not be an issue. If it was 95% spirits you would have to be careful.

The numbers on the bottom are resin codes

“7” signifies other plastics, such as acrylic, nylon, polycarbonate and polylactic acid (PLA)

There is a "PC" under the number so it is polycarbonate.

You can look up sites to show resistance, this lists it as "good" for ethanol
