Lots of the usual suspects names being bandied about but it's the usual countries names that I go back to again and again for Worlds.

    Italy, Belgium, Netherlands.

I know the course and the heat probably don't suit but those 3 names come to the fore year in, year out at the Worlds.

That live stream is very good to be honest and the commentating has been ok so far. Not too British biased like the guys on ITV and Eurosport. Just the 218k to go then!!

I think that's highlights from the women's race yesterday.

7 brave lads have ten minutes with 195km's to go. Scenery-wise it's kind of like cycling in the midlands except sand instead of bogs.

Who is the Belarus guy on the front working as an extra member of Team GB?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,063 ✭✭✭Doc07

Hoho the race is on now. Do or die time for Sam and the lads

    Sam made it!

  • Registered Users Posts: 513 ✭✭✭mhiggy09

Just kicked off. Echelons everywhere. Sam is in the front group with some of the big names that split it

Great to see this kind of racing & Sam up there. If not for Sam would love to see Boonen do it with a great display of classics racing, particularly after the way he & EQS rode Paris Roubaix this year.

Hon the Belgians. GB dropping Like flys out of the group

The way things are blown to pieces looks like there'll be a lot of cyclists looking at the bus timetables for Doha. Absolute crazy day's racing left.

  • Registered Users Posts: 513 ✭✭✭mhiggy09

Mullen and matt b in the 3rd group

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,630 ✭✭✭pelevin

Good man Pat McQuaid! Always said it was a genius move to give the Worlds to Qatar.

Still can't see it anywhere. Surely some channel has it does it? Can you get at the BBC red button via a Sky box? Steephill website says Eurosport has coverage but nothing on their schedule

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,333 ✭✭✭secman

Never saw a crash like that , the Colombian in leader group, his front wheel just lifted up and he went over backwards on his arse ! Wind and crosswinds are sheer savage. Leaders down from 7 mins to 1 :37 bennett in first chasing group. Rest of field is scattered all over the desert:)

    Poor Sam is gone

Belgium lads are hammering the course, have just hammered through the lead group. Bennett picked up by the new group 1 !

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,630 ✭✭✭pelevin

Commentator thought Sam looked like he'd a problem with his hand. Sounds like that could go back to his TdF injury if I remember right about his issues after his crash.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,255 ✭✭✭MPFGLB

Looks like Sam Bennet hurt his hand trying to get a bottle ....must be hand he injured in the Tour....tough luck

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,630 ✭✭✭pelevin

The commentators on the YT UCI channel I think are doing a decent job. Not draining it of its life or anything.
