Mortgage & Home Improvement Loan

    Hi All,
    I am in the process of finalizing my mortgage, need to get a personal loan to do work on the house. Does anyone have any experience in applying for a personal loan or home improvement loan straight after getting a mortgage?
    Mortgage is not with the bank I do my banking with, i.e. current account & savings.
    Any experiences would be of interest.
