The road from Quinn's Cross roundabout to Mungret has become far too narrow. Two average-sized cars can barely pass without yielding or slowing down.

The footpaths and cycle lanes are enormous. It's great that cyclists and pedestrians have facilities; however the width is excessive.

Maybe the intention is to get the cars to yield or slow down?

I bet they will have the traffic lights turned on on the N69 next week...when there is no need for them....lads tis mad. when i was in UL in 2000 it took me 50 minutes with no motorway. I now do the same commute in 2017 and it takes 45 min in the evening with safety cars driving at 40km an hour and pointless traffic lights everywhere.

I was pulling out of a creche beside Mungret College at 8.10am.

I was delayed on the approach to Quinn's Cross roundabout for ten minutes. That's about 300 metres.

You have to bear in mind that many schools are closed. Imagine the traffic when the schools return! Or a rainy day....

My predicament wasn't as bad as motorists coming from Dock Road or Ard Aulin Estate. There was a one-mile traffic jam inbound towards Raheen for them.

I hope you're well clear of that creche before the new schools open... nobody is gonna be able to get out of that creche or mungret college at school times.!

Deployed by the RSA to create huge convoys of people with **** to be doing who go to overtake at the first safe opportunity... then they see the speed van.

I drove down here at lunch time today stupidly thinking I could access Fr. Russell Road, ended up sitting in traffic for 20 minutes only to find that exit is blocked.

Just home after being stuck outside Ard Aulinn for nearly 40 mins. An absolute shambles and completely unacceptable, especially for the volume of traffic that uses the roundabout. The sooner these cowboys finish up and **** off the better.

Assuming you are coming from the Clarina/Kildimo direction...

If the South Court roundabout at Raheen Industrial Estate was also heavy (I have no idea whether it's affected.... someone might fill you in), the better option might be....

    1. At Clarina traffic lights, turn right towards Patrickswell

    2. At the Dark Horse Pub in Patrickswell, turn left

    3. Join the M20 motorway for Limerick and Dublin

    4. Take Exit 2 for Dooradoyle

    5. Drive past the Crescent Shopping Centre

    6. Left for the hospital

Just an idea... seems long, but should be moving.

If South Court roundabout is fine... then Clarina, Dark Horse, R526 Red House Hill, Raheen, South Court, Hospital

I wonder is he still stuck there ?

No im good. Went via patrickswell and made it with no delays. Coming in via the N69 this am though and the roadcrossing on the side heading into town have all but washed away. Traffic stopping to decide which is the best way to go around them.

Crap - forgot about this nightmare today and got stuck coming back up from the Dock road, nearly backed up to the Dock road Roundabout. Back in the dock road and up blackberry lane.

Apparently the rain stopped work for two days when they were hoping the finish the roundabout.
Work on the roundabout itself will continue next week when the schools reopen but not until after 9am.
Expect delays though on the road to Mungret when surfacing starts there lasting at least another two weeks.
Imagine if the same crowd were contracted to build a motorway to Cork? They'd get at least two centuries out of it!

As mentioned above, avoid this roundabout like the plague for next few weeks if planning on going through it between 9 and 5. Traffic being stopped at all entrys onto it and each side getting a Go roughly every 15 minutes. Cars also slow getting through it as inadequate signage indicating how to get to correct exit. Traffic backed up as far as Centra on Raheen side just now and that is before the school run starts proper.

Whole thing is a s@$t show. Morons given this job should never be given a contract again.

I'm looking forward to see how they manage the resurfacing of the N69 part of this work. Rocking on and closing one of the busy routes into the city.

My bet is they close it completely and divert everyone down the mungret roads, which we all know is sufficiently wide enough to take HGV traffic.

I passed this morning at around 9:30am and one of the digger operators was sound asleep in one of the diggers......they must do a ferocious amount of work between 9:00am and 9:30am.

slow down coming from the roundabout going up towards the hotel. They've dug it out but there's a sharp edge left on the original road surface. Could do nice damage to tyres and rims!

Passed through there today after avoiding the area for the past 2 weeks. Looks like they are finally making progress, albeit at glacial pace.

I still can't figure out what the inner orbital section is for though...

Legend says if a man in shorts with a very large branch in his left hand, circles that roundabout exactly 229 times, the sharp edges of the father russell road exit will sink in to a more driveable surface. Oh and Desmonds Off Licence will reopen too.
