Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There are some Shinty-Hurling games coming up on Saturday with coverage of the Senior Shinty-Hurling game on BBC2 Scotland starting at 13:45 in Bught Park, Inverness

The GAA calls it Hurling-Shinty and The Camanachd Association calls it Shinty-Hurling

Has anybody ever being to a Shinty game or participated in Shinty.

What activities could one do when at a Shinty game (food & half-time entertainment, etc) and is there an awareness of the local team in your area

For those that play(ed) hurling or play(ed) shinty how similar are the games

Shinty is like hurling from the 40's. There was talk in the early part of the 20th century of unifying the codes they were so similar.

I've never played either but having watched a game of Hinty/Shurling once the main difference that I could gauge is that in shinty the ball is played off the ground and the shinty stick is more like a hockey stick, shaped at an angle to facilite the flight of upwards.

Is there a grassroots system similar to hurling and is there any team that you'd support

Watched on TV a couple of times. It's strangely interesting to watch! I would say it's more hockey than hurling too really. There's a whole league system with a couple of divisions but it's mostly based up in the Highlands.
