Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I just purchased an apartment which I intend doing up and renting out from about March onwards.

Since I won t be getting any income from it until next year will I still be able to claim the expenses I spend this year on doing it up?

    Thanks.

No, you can only claim on expenses after you start renting it out (received rent - not preparing to rent)

No, pre-letting expenses are not allowable. You will only be allowed to claim expenses from the date the tenancy starts.

Capital allowances can be claimed over 8 years for any furniture and white goods you purchase for the apartment.
