    OP - If you're still reading this - Don't get your hopes up with the FSO. They'll helpfully point out that Allianz Direct were perfectly entitled to do what they did and thank you for contacting them.

    Your NCB protection does not absolve you of a claim and mean that you can leave any mention of same out when seeking a quotation. You seem to think that they had all of your details when you contacted them in the direct channel. They didn't, because they couldn't connect your existing broker policy with your direct application. So you were a new, unknown customer to them.

    When you were told that you were covered via the direct channel, this was based on false underwriting data that you had provided, as you didn't declare the claim.

    As others have pointed out, you now have to declare that you have been refused insurance cover and this will be for the rest of your life. It doesn't go away after 5 years like the claim.

    Sorry to say it, but you have made a very bad decision in doing what you did.
