I think it is fair to say that it is not solely a Manchester thing with the Courteeners. I have beeen to see them in Glasgow, London, Birmingham, Liverpool and many other places and almost all have been as raucous and atmospheric as any of the home gigs i have been to?? I am also going to Belfast on thursday night and it kills me to say it as a Dub but the band are 'got' alot more up the road and across the water than they are here which is probably proof of the gig not selling out.

They've a much better following northern England than anywhere.. not particularly known at all over here judging by them not selling out the academy.. I'd love to see them in Manchester I'd say it's class.. none the less I can't fukn wait to see them tomorrow!!

I saw them at T in the Park last summer and it was absolutely mental, they seem to have a bit of a cult following:

I know some would probably say "Landfill Indie" but I think they are very good, 1 or 2 of their albums at least.

First time seeing them, thought they were really good. A lot rowdier than I expected!

Can't believe some muppet threw a drink at the band after they cancelled a gig last week because of it. Who pays €25 to do that!

There was more than one muppet throwing drinks. One hit, but there were a couple of other near misses.

Was at a Moz gig in Liverpool a few years ago when someone hit him with a drink during the second song. Gig over. I got a refund for concert ticket, but still was out of pocket for flights, hotel, etc. Morons.

I hope whoever threw the pint pot was escorted out. it seemed to shake Liam for a song or two but he soon shook it off.
On the gig itself, i thought the mix of new and old tunes worked well but you could tell there was a hardcore there padded up by a few just there for the show and a dance along to a few hits. The Belfast gig last night was a bit more subdued in the sense that there was not as many plastic cups bouncing around the place. I prefer the Academy to the Limelight as a venue and to me it was a better gig the first night but that could be me being biased.
Acoustic set as usual was magic from Liam and De La Salle was the highlight for me.
Roll on Manchester in the summer.....

Amazing night. Had the pleasure of meeting Liam and the lads afterwards. Really genuine sound lads. Liam was chatting away to those of us who stuck around. He said that the bottle incident last week really had him down so I think he was delighted with how the show went generally. As he said "theres dickheads at every gig". I told him to not leave it so long before coming back to Ireland and he said he'd be well up for Electric Picnic if it was possible.

As for the gig itself, I thought the setlist was very good. De La Salle was special. I was disappointed Here Come The Young Men didn't get played. It was on the setlist but they swapped it with Acrylic.

Bought tickets to Manchester yesterday, cant wait.

Would love to see them at electric picnic but I don't think there a big enough draw

Nice one T, Acrylic is one of my favourite songs so was happy to see it played but also would have liked hctym. Manchester will be great with the line up on offer. With a bit of luck the lads buzzed off the crowd and hopefully will be back sooner rather than later...

Absolutely sick I didn't even know this gig happened. Was looking up tour dates recently and only seen mainland UK dates.
Been a fan since I seen they were playing Oxygen in 2010 and started listening to their stuff. Seen them again in the academy a few years back.

Of course they'd play I'm not doubting that.. not many bands would turn down a 55000 festival.. my point is I don't see the organiser's seeing them as an act for EP.. I'd like to be wrong and love to see them there but can't see it
