    it looks vaguely like a chilli plant, but the leaves are bigger than i'd expect.
    my response is probably influenced by me having harvested chillis off a chilli plant earlier.

    I'd second that. The flowers look very chili plant like.

    if it is a chilli plant, it's very late flowering. you probably won't get any usable chillis from it.

    Ah yes, I thought those leaves looked familiar but I could not think what they were, second the chilli/pepper family.

    Thank you very much for your replies. It flowered a few months ago. I thought a photo of it flowering would help find out what it actually is.

    Why would you say that? It doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to an arbutus.
