been using a laptop for too long and would like to build my own for around 750, ideally i'd like to play gears of war 4 and battlefield and need a monitor, is that stretching it a bit? thanks in advance

not sure ill bother building now. can anyone advise on this prebuild from ebay? i know it's likely to be overpriced but the processor and graphics card do seem good. is the rest okay?

If going for a prebuild then maybe check out the dell xps 8900, you can currently get it for 750 delivered. It's graphics card is weaker but you could replace that later. It has a better processor, more ram and a year premium warranty and windows 10 pro. http://www.dell.com/ie/p/xps-8900-desktop/pd

The Dell isn't bad at all, but I'd prefer the Ebay option. The i7 will make zero difference in games versus the i5 unless you've an absolute monster GPU, and the GTX750Ti is significantly slower than the GTX1060 - 1080p low-medium settings versus 1080p high-ultra. The Ebay is just a much better out of the box machine and will last a few years without requiring any upgrades.

so the ebay option is decent? i know it would be cheaper to build myself but it's not a massive rip off or anything?

The only thing I'd make a note of is a) no SSD, not essential but does make a big difference and more importantly, b) it has a crappy power supply which is not ideal.

I agree to a large extent, I'd just be more comfortable getting the machine from Dell and later upgrading the gfx than ebay myself. I also figured that even though it's dell, you've more peace of mind with the ram and psu, plus the very small ssd and extra ram could be handy.

I do like the look of the ebay's bitfenix case though, hadn't seen it in white before.

That eBay special will have a cheapest-of-the-cheap PSU, guaranteed.

It says "850W" but it's nearly guaranteed to fail well before that - possibly taking out the CPU or GPU with it.
